Fine. pp 1667-1696 An article signed by its author E G Wermund on the deposition of ''Early tertiary sediments using physico-chemical analysis. This offprint is signed in the top right hand corner of the front cover - 'Compliments of Jerry Wermund'. The text is fine and complete, in fine yellow printed card wrappers. This forms part of a large quantity of natural historical pamphlets recently acquired by Modernfirsteditions. Fine 1961

Printed on good quality paper in a tight and square binding. Edges a little soiled, occasional spotting to the pages and there is some staining to the front preliminaries. The fundamentals of die work written for the draftsman or 'energetic machinist', comprehensively illustrated with 78 technical drawings, many full page. Good 1937

Ilkley, Yorkshire: C Goodall, G E Pickering, 1875. No Binding. Very Good. The lithographed 1875 master-plan for Ilkley town centre, parcelling up land between the main shopping street, The Grove, and Skipton Road ahead of the auction of building plots on June 8, 1875. The plans for the agents, G E Pickering, were attractively lithographed by C Goodall of Leeds with individual plots picked out in contrasting colours at a scale of 10 yards to an inch. The line of the Ilkley to Skipton Railway line which was built across part of this site after 1885 has been drawn in with price details of some plots in pencil, probably notated by a local solicitor who owned the plans. The sheet has been mounted preparatory to framing. Very Good 1875

He was closely involved in international aspects of postwar planning, including former colonies, in south-West Africa (now Namibia), and became the Commonwealth Office expert on French West Africa. He became assistant secretary in the CO in 1946 (and head of the West African department), but resigned in 1948 to become reader in Commonwealth government at Oxford and subsequently director and professor of commonwealth affairs at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies in London. Moscow, 1974. 220 x 143 mm. Very Good. G G Okunev, Second Symphony, 1974, Score, Moscow; small folio, Russian imprint. This score is from a large collection of scores that belonged to the conductor Sir Colin Davis, many annotated and used in performance, almost all from the post-war period and including at least two examples of scores from which Davis conducted the work's premier: Thea Musgrave's Clarinet Concerto (Davis was himself originally a clarinettist by training) and Malcolm Williamson's The Stone Wall which Davis premiered at the Last Night of the Proms in September 1971. Most of the scores are full size performance versions, several very large indeed in order to accommodate the scoring of a post-Schoenberg orchestra. Davis achieved global recognition for his conducting with a particular enthusiasm for the music of Mozart, Berlioz, Elgar, Sibelius, Stravinsky and Tippett. Very Good 1974

Born in 1922, Stein was a Jewish refugee from pre-war Austria, educated by the Quakers in York and eventually a Catholic convert who worked in the Department of Extramural Studies at Leeds University. The 'Gladstone Memorial Prize' bookplate appears on the front paste-down with Wilson's ownership signature: 'J H Wilson, Jesus College, 1936'. Bookseller's ticket from Blackwells, Oxford. Hardcovers, green cloth, very good, the covers are clean with bright gilt, edges fingermarked and spotting to preliminaries. Blackwell's bookmark laid in at 'Justice: A Tragedy'. This book comes from the private collection of British Prime Minister Harold Wilson and his wife Mary who died recently at the age of 102. During his lifetime Harold Wilson kept the book in the Ashley Gardens mansion flat in Westminster that the couple shared until his death in 1995. After she lost her husband Mary Wilson continued to live in the couple's flat, surrounded by a lifetime's accumulation of books and memories until 2016. Very Good 1935
