Description:
Chatto & Windus. First UK edition published by Chatto & Windus in 1930. This is a very good or better copy. The wrapper has small amounts of loss to the top and bottom of the spine. There are two splits to the edge of the inside flap. There is a couple of small chips to the corners along with a tear to the inside lower flap. There are two tiny holes to the spine. Overall though, the jacket is fairly complete and not price clipped. The panels are clean and without marks. The book is in excellent condition, with only a bumped top corner for wear and some light sporadic foxing to the side text block. The dark green top stain is bright and the pages are very clean. Overall a very good or better copy.  Faulkner's first novel, originally published in the US in 1926, it wouldn't be until 1930 that it was published in the UK and most likely in a small print run. The novel on the front wrapper exclaims "Not a War Book", it follows a wounded aviator's return home,… Read More

Jonathan Cape. London: Jonathan Cape, 1963 8vo., brown publisher's cloth, backstrip printed in gilt, with white 'Ski' motif to upper panel; in the original unclipped Richard Chopping dust jacket (16s. net), featuring a black and white illustration of the author to the lower flap; pp. [viii], 9-288; a fresh, bright copy, with minor bumping and scratches to the edge of the text block the only defects; jacket clean and unrestored, with the red lettering to spine, often faded, here bright and clear; some very marginal toning and creasing to extremities, but otherwise an excellent copy.  First edition, first impression. Binding A in brown cloth.  After the mixed reviews arising from his previous book, The Spy Who Loved Me, Fleming endeavored to return to his tried and tested formula with OHMSS. The villain Blofeld reappears, as well as the SPECTRE organisation, and Fleming sets much of the action in Alpine Ski resorts, having recently traveled to Engadine, near St Moritz.… Read More

Jonathan Cape. London: Jonathan Cape, 1964 8vo., black cloth, japanese characters in gilt to upper board; lettered in silver to backstrip with publisher's device to foot; wood-effect endpapers; in the classic Richard Chopping dust jacket (16s. net) featuring a poisonous toad grasping a dragonfly under the shelter of a pink chrysanthemum; pp. [xiv], 15-255, [i]; essentially a fine copy, some very minor toning to edges of jacket and shelf-wear to the lower panel the only defects.  First edition, first impression, first state. Binding A in black cloth.   The final book in Fleming's 'Blofeld Trilogy', following Thunderball and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Description:
Pan. The complete first edition set of the James Bond novels, all published by pan between 1955 and 1968. This is a very good set. The spines for all the copies are in tact and all are well bound. Pleasingly there is no previous owner's ink in any of the copies. The most valuable book is OHMSS and that has a repair to the bottom of the spine but otherwise is in nice condition and in a protective cover. Casino Royale also has very little wear. All the volumes have browned pages as can be expected and some minor wear to the covers. Two or three volumes have creases to the covers. Overall a very good set and rare with all volumes being first print and the earliest state according to Gilbert the bibliography of Fleming's works.  . Very Good. Soft cover. 1st Edition. 1st Printing. 1955.
