If the Chicago scene was belittled for producing so little for such a big city, that's okay because it gave us the Mentally Ill: their 45 "Gacy's Place" (Autistic Records, 1979) more than compensates for a dozen mediocre punk combos. Moreover, Coolest Retard, belatedly sought to correct that history with an action-packed fanzine of substance. We'll forgive them for the article on the band Bauhaus; the article on Naked Raygun, tons of record reviews, and assessments of recent shows backfill for years of Chicago doldrums.
