New Haven, 1901. First edition. . Grey wrappers, sewn, front cover lettered in gold. Light wear to tips, binding string broken within, some soiling to the dedication page, fine otherwise. A 32-page booklet. A short, whimsical reminiscence of childhood, mildly fantastic. A note within reveals that this sketch first appeared in the New York Evening Post, under the title: A Child's World. This may be the same E.L. Morris who was the author of a number of botanical works.

The American edition was published in 1914, and the regular British edition appeared with a date of 1915.

Spine mostly chipped away, both covers are detached; inscription on the front fly leaf dated 1838, a very good copy otherwise. Ebenezer was evidently a sickly child. Much of the book is instructional, indicating how parents might best use the Bible's lessons in the raising of their children. Another edition was published by Maclehose in 1841.

Laid in are a number of typed poems and photocopies of material by and about Gottlieb. The book is inscribed and signed by Gottlieb on the front end paper, dated 1974. Edward P. Gottlieb was a teacher, activist, and poet. He was the chairman of the WRL (War Resisters League) for many years. A scarce book.

One leaf of ads at the front, 32-page publisher's catalogue at rear dated Autumn, 1909. Cloth split along rear hinge, spine faded, some chips to cloth at edges, generally a very good copy otherwise. Locke: Spectrum of Fantasy pg. 215: "Light science fiction novel in which the crew of a super submarine (capable of speeds up to 40 knots) encounter the Flying Dutchman, release her crew from the spell of several centuries and help to settle them down in South Africa." This book is usually found in the non-pictorial later binding; this pictorial binding is very uncommon.

A newspaper clipping which mentions McKenna has been laid into the front of the book, and has made a yellow patch on the end paper. A scarce book of poems by McKenna, who was a contributor to THE MASSES.
