Lyon: Bosc frères : M. et L. Riou, 1933. First edition. 8vo, 229 [2] pp, printed wraps. Text in French. This expansive work on tattoos grew out of De Tromelin's doctoral thesis, in which he studied 788 subjects and 4,142 tattoos, making classifcations between ethnic, professional, and allegorical tattoos. The work is not illustrated, but was one of the largest such surveys of the time an important contribution to scholarship in the pre-war era. Graven cites the work frequently, and draws attention to the importance of the bibliography especially. OCLC locates 13 holdings worldwide, only one of which is in the US. A somewhat battered copy, with a sound bump to head of spine, and a split and some chipping to to the paper covering the spine, but the binding still holds and ist sturdy.

[Paris]: Internationale Situationniste, 1967. First edition. 8vo, [9] pp, saddle-stapled wraps. Text in French. First edition of this text on China, signed by the IS but generally believed to be authored by Debord, likely helped with input by Rene Viénet, who refers to it in his foreward to The Chairman's New Clothes. Aaccording to the back panel, this was published as a supplement to the 11th issue of the Internationale Situationniste journal, but the pamphlet actually was published in August of that year, with the text then reprinted in that issue which followed by a couple months. Rare. OCLC locates only 3 holdings. Very good with some light traces of soiling and a couple small cresaes.

[Las Vegas]: DEF CON, 2006. Ping Pong ball, approximately 1 1/2" in diameter, printed with the DEF CON skull logo in purple. A Ping Pong ball made in limited quantities for the 14th iteration of the world's largest hacking festival. This example was won by the preivous owner for winning a contest at the convention. Fine.

Washington DC: Federal Civil Defense Administration, 1952. 8vo, 34 pages, saddle-stapled wraps. One of a series of Civil Defense pamphlets issued during the Cold War, this one directed towards engineers and architects. Your purchase of this pamphlet helps fund construction of the new DL bunker. Very good with some light creasing and slight fading to extremities of wraps.

Neuilly-sur-Seine: Le Phare de Neuilly, 1933. First edition. 8vo, photographically illustrated wraps by Man Ray. Profusely illustrated. The debut issue (of four numbers published, the last a double number) of one of the most beautiful and unusual of all Surrealist periodicals. This is the second state, with the Daumal contribution replaced with "Miss Hazel" by Petrus-Borel. With contributions from Lêon-Paul Fargue, Jacques Baron, Robert Desnos, André de Richaud, Jules Supervielle, René Laforgue, Georgette Camille, Jean Painlevé, Céline Arnaud, Nicole Cazanave, Roger Vitrac, Jean Follain, Alejo Carpentier, and G. Ribemont-Dessaignes. It also includes photographs within by Man Ray, Nadal, and Lee Miller. Wraps rather creased and rubbed, with some tears along the spine, and soiling and some very faint waviness to back cover, a good only example but complete and sound.

Germany: Langer Peter Verlag, 1960. First edition. 8vo, addle-stapled wraps. Debut issue of the beautifully designed little mag, one of the best of the era. With contributions from the editors and Ezra Pound, Johann Klaj, Salvatore Quasimodo, Peter Rühmkorp, Hannes Brühl, Jürgen Hohn, Carl Pedersen, Jürgen Holm, Gianni Selvani et al. Very good with a hint of tidemarking at heel and a crease to front wrap, and a couple minor (rust?) spots of staining within. Scarce issue.

np, nd [c. late 19th century]. 6 x 9" broadside, printed in English with Chinese letters at left margin. Complete with both original sensitive leaves, each printed on thin glassine paper hand-painted with red pigment. Lacking the original envelope. Sensitive leaves were a fortune-telling device by which the temperament of a subject could be ascertained when the glassine leaf was placed into the palm of a hand, and the degree and manner in which it curled or was otherwise animated. The division of personality was based upon the humors, revealing a sanguine, choleric, phlegmatic, or melancholy disposition. This particular version is attributed to one Yang-Hou, of Kiagnen, China, and is one of several which were attributed to a Chinese source, sometimes with racist caricatures such as the second of the two leaves. Both leaves fine. The broadside has several old fold lines, with a couple small holes at folds and a small bit missing at one tip, else very good.

Los Angeles: Desolation Center, 1984. 2 1/2 x 3" perforated ticket, letterpress printed on chipboard by Bruce Licher. With printer's "sample" rubberstamp to verso. Very good with a small tackhole and stain to right margin.

np: Erich Dobhardt-Komitee, 1973. 4to, 20 pp. [incl. covers], offset printed and saddle-stapled. Pamphlet collecting press clippings and documents relating to the killing of 17 year old Erich Dobhardt by police, which at the time caused a great amount of controversy in Germany. He is the namesake of the Erich Dobhardt-Haus, a squatted building and youth center which existed from 1972-1974 on Oesterholz Road in Dortmund. The rear of the pamphlet prints a space for readers to sign their names in protest. Very good with an old price in green biro to cover and a bit of curling to upper tip. Rare. OCLC locates no holdings.

Girard, Kansas: Haldeman-Julius, 1922. 32mo, saddle-stapled in lightwraps printed in black. Gibbs 122b, second noted variation in the LBB(2) binding, with copyright date still present. The transcript of a debate held in 1919 in London by the Rationalist Press Association, which Conan Doyle had once been a member of. McCabe was the former Catholic priest turned freethought philosopher who was one of the central writers in the Haldeman-Julius camp. Very good with the usual toning, and fading to the extremities of the wraps, which have a little fraying at margins.

Kent: Kent State University Libraries, 1978. 8vo, saddle-stitched in blue string in card wraps. With errata slip laid in. This copy with a handwritten colophon by Robert Duncan, denoting this as copy no. 3 of only 4 issued "Hors de Commerce for Gerrit Lansing, 'the hosts of the glittering day return'. Robert Duncan." The second edition, following the first edition of 1950 - this edition adds an afterword by Robert Bertholf. Bertholf A3 state e, the second of the two hors commerce series - with blue string instead of red, and no bloodstain. Near fine with some minor crimping abd fadubg to yapped wraps, which have a short nick at head of rear wrap.
