Francesca Maria Steele [ 1848 - 1931 ] English novelist, historian, and biographer, who began writing to support her family. The book contains references to the 'Gloria Maris', which at the time was considered the rarest shell in the World - the book contends that only 12 were then known. Today, thanks to modern technology specimens can be had for $100.
