Description:
Charles De Feo (1891-1978) was commissioned by The House of Seagram to illustrate two Gadwall in flight in the late 1940s. The artwork was used by Seagram's for their promotional advertising. Mr. De Feo's original drawing (signed in the lower right corner) is the more colorful piece shown at the top, and the published and much touched-up (and quite somber) version is mounted below. Each measures 11 3/4 x 9 with the overall dimensions of 28 x 18. Charles De Feo was a well-respected outdoor artist who illustrated many books and magazines, to include Outdoor Life, Sports Afield, Cosmopolitan plus many others. Perhaps he is best remembered for his exquisite drawings of salmon in Roderick Haig-Brown's 1941 publication of Return to the River. Professionally mounted, matted and framed. In fine condition..

Description:
Grand Rapids, Michigan. Raven Publishers and Printing Company. 1980. First Edition. Octavo (8 1/2 x 6). 156 pp. Black and white photos. Jon de Bleaux is a good descriptive writer and he also writes in a slightly coarse style, with a little in-your-face, Gonzo style energy thrown in; plus he doesn’t suffer occasional fishing fools delicately. The book is definitively not a how-to-do-it text; rather, it is exceptionally poignant, opinionated series of essays, and you will likely enjoy all of it. The stories take place in northern Michigan and he shares some of same territory Robert Traver describes in his books; coincidentally, there’s a chapter devoted to Robert Traver. This book came from Russell Chatham’s angling collection. The book is bound in burgundy cloth with gilt titles. Pictorial dust jacket. A nice book. Fine in a very good dust jack.

Description:
New York. A. S. Barnes and Company, Inc. 1964 [1960]. Third printing. 8vo. (7 ½ x 5 ½). 340 pp. including Tables of Natural Insects and their Imitations. The book lists nearly 6000 fly patterns and the materials needed to dress them, and surely your favorite fly is listed; no? Then perhaps we need an updated version of this book to include the 5000 or so new killer patterns that have been pitched since 1964; yes? Imagine were we'll be in another 40 years - some folks will need a Flymobile to handle it all. I'll end my cynical rant here. The book is bound in yellow cloth with black titles. Pictorial dust jacket. The book is fine in a very good dust jacket with light edge wear. .
