No publications date noted, but WorldCat says two editions were published in 1890 in France. 4to, stiff illustrated wraps, French text, [12] pages, linen cloth, illustrations by color lithography, front endpapers the alphabet A-Z in capital letters, rear endpaper has letters in lower case, each page provides a poem [in French] and color illustrations of various circus acts: acrobats, flying trapezes, bicycles, chariot races, dogs acts, elephants, horses, seals, kangaroos, pigs, ostriches, lions and tigers and bears (oh my!), ending with a yack and a zebra, and all including the various circus performers. Condition: VERY GOOD with some edgewear, crease to front cover, the spine is rubbed with the paper overlay on the canvas rubbed off in a few places, internally clean. A delightful and very rare piece of Circus and ABC lore.

[ Wallingford, CT ]: Choate. Soft cover. NF. No date or publisher, but printed for the Choate School in Wallingford CT: "Condensed as read each Christmas in The Choate Chapel;" page after title page reads "Hallo! Hallo! How are you...? Merry Christmas!" with an illustration by D.E.H., and from "Margaret and Seymour St. John." [St. John was the long-time headmaster of Choate - he died in 2006]. 16mo, paperwraps, stapled, red covers with Choate insignia, 30 pages, one full-page b/w illustration. Condition: NEAR FINE with no visible wear excepting a slight rub to the front cover. A nice piece of ephemera for the Choate or Dickens' collector.

Condition is VERY GOOD / no jacket: sl edgewear to spine extremities and corners; sl yellowing to eps. A nice copy.

Condition is VERY GOOD : light edgewear, crease to front cover at bottom corner, name blacked out on title page.

NY: Macmillan, 1903. First Edition . Hardcover. VG+. 1st American edition, a title in the English Men of Letters Series, edited by John Morley, with the EML logo in gilt on front cover. This title on Burney seems to be the first biography of a woman writer in this series; a "new volume" list appended lists George Eliot. 12mo, black cloth, top edge gilt, 216 pages, [2] pages publisher ads. VERY GOOD+ condition: gentle rubbing to spine extremities, a lovely engraved owner bookplate on front paste-down with another owner name in pencil, internally clean and tight. A very nice copy. Frances Burney, 1752-1840, diarist, novelist and letter-writer... [The bookplate owner is Ruth Mary Sabin, listed in Lemperly's "A List of Book-plates Engraved in Copper" (1899)]

Eldon Deane. 8vo, burgundy cloth decorated in gilt - a lovely binding designed by Amy Sacker - top edge gilt, 390 pages. VERY GOOD+ / no jacket: light rubbing to the spine extremities, owner bookplate on front pastedown, clean and tight throughout, a very nice copy of this travelogue through the cathedrals of southern England, including Chichester, Winchester, Salisbury, Wells, Glastonbury, Exeter; Bath and Stonehenge are also visited.

Copyright date is 1887, this is the 1888 printing. 16mo, navy cloth with gilt titles on front cover, 139 pages. VERY GOOD+ with slight rubbing to the spine head and tail and corners, slightly "dusty" top page edge, internally clean and tight. The Tuesday evening gatherings spent together in "Practical Talk" - which later grew into the first Working Girls' Society. Dodge was a prolific writer; her papers are in the Sophia Smith Collection at Smith College. A very nice copy of this rare book.
