All pages are clean and unmarked aside from small previous owner's name in red marker on front endpaper. Binding and hinges are secure. Moderate rubbing and edge wear to jacket and heavy chipping at spine ends.

Rubbing to jacket with numerous tears, creases and chipping around the edges with 2 inch closed tear to bottom edge of front cover and 1.5 inch tear to top edge of back. Corners bumped and slightly softened, as are spine ends. A few instances of mildly split binding throughout book, but binding remains strong on the whole. Pages are clean and unmarked though tanned. Boards are straight and clean.

Some stains from tape on front and back endpapers, also evident on the jacket. Boards are exceptionally bright with very little wear. Jacket has been protected in mylar and shows only little bits of rubbing around corners and top of spine.

Full leather bound with gold gilt accents on boards & spine. All three edges marbled with matching marbled endpapers. All pages are unmarked but have mild foxing and staining throughout. Heavier staining to volume four. Binding and hinges secure aside from back hinge starting in volume two. Moderate rubbing and scuffing to spines and boards with fraying to corners.

Text block is partially separated from spine wrap near top of book but binding remains strong and all pages are intact. Portion of front liner flap is cut out, perhaps a print number or somesuch identifier. Boards are straight and clean with mild wear around the edges.

Harper & Row, 1963. Paperback. Good/N/A. Previous owner's page notes penned on half-title page. All other pages are unmarked. Minor edge wear on covers and reading crease on front cover. Bottom left corner of back cover creased.

Frederick A. Stokes, 1914. Hardcover. Good/None. Illustrated by M.L. Kirk with four tipped-in color plates. Pages are unmarked except for previous owner's name on front endpaper. Gilt top stain is faded and deckled edges have chipped. Both hinges are cracked. Spine is heavily sunned and lettering is difficult to read. Spine ends are fraying and bottom end is chipped. Corners are bumped and cardboard is exposed. Gilt lettering on front is clear and shiny, but decoration edges is rubbed and fading.

LIquid damage to front cover and liner flap, though this is mostly evident only on the interior side. Same liquid damage is evident on front boards. Corners and spine ends bumped and softened. Previous owner's name on front endpaper and small marks (underlining and check marks) to the last section, "Notes" in rear of book. Mild staining to fore and bottom edges of text block. Binding remains fairly strong.

Binding is separating at inside front cover so glue is visible.
