This edition adds more than 30,000 words that Dick had written, and was never published for a revised edition he was preparing at the time of his death, in 1982. Dick's literary agent discovered the complete text, prepared by Dick, and recruited fellow writer, John Sladek to bridge a few missing gaps pages in the narrative, specifically, pgs. 143, and 168-69. A collection of forty-seven macabre themed poems, originally published in various journals and magazines, including Weird Tales, Wings, The Arkham Sampler, and others. One of the included poems, 'The Ballad of the Jabberwock' won the Stephen Vincent Benet award in 1946. Werewolves, Dragons, Witches, Kelpies, Fauns, Centaurs, are only a smattering of the mythical and supernatural subjects explored. Readily approachable, the majority of poems are only a page in length. Drake was a popular Weird Tales poet with more appearances in WEIRD TALES than Robert E. Howard, Clark Ashton Smith, or H.P. Lovecraft. With so few copies printed, [553 copies]the book is a legendary Arkham House rarity, with only half the edition run offered to the public. London: G.P. Putnam's, 1924. [First Edition]. Putnam publishers published three Dunsany volumes in a deluxe, oversized presentation, with vellum spine, heavy, quality book paper, and each copy edition signed by both the author, and artistthe author's personal favorite, Sidney H. Sime; Sime has signed under the frontispiece in the book, Dunsany's signature is slightly smudged, he always seemed to gather too much ink on his quill pen. Published in an edition of 250 signed, numbered copies. Vellum spine and cloth, slightly soiledfar less than usual, bright stamping on the leather label, sharp points at tips; barely noticible traces of foxing at some page edges. It's a fresh tight copy, one of the best I've handled. It's a tough one in a nice dust-wrapper.

London: Jupiter Books, 1979. First Edition. An excellent narrative, and visual history of the legendary magazine, by an equally legendary British collector and scholar. Illustrated throughout with black and white, color, and color imposed cover replications of the more noted issues. Durie's commentary is lively and informative, covering, editors, authors and artists. Durie was one of the early Brits to have a complete run of the magazine, personally. If you have a mere inkling of interest in The Unique Magazine, you will enjoy this volume. Oversized. A few rubs to the d.j., else a fine copy.
