London: Victor Gollancz Ltd., 1951. First UK Edition of this biography of Harry S. Truman written by Roosevelt's Press Secretary and member of Truman's '48 campaign. A nice copy with slight foxing to page edges and front & rear pastedowns and endpapers. Some overall dustiness to dust wrapper along with some toning to spine. Overall, a near fine is very near fine dust wrapper.

London: Cassell and Company, 1952. Some wear to spine title label otherwise a near fine copy lacking dust wrapper.

Oxford (UK): Oxford at the Clarendon Press, 1926. First edition. Prior owner's name, uneven tanning to front and rear endpapers otherwise a lovely copy, fine indeed. Dust wrapper has a diamond shape cut out of the spine (why?), one other chip, a tiny edge tear and very slight rubbing to the top spine. Otherwise near fine.

Prior owner's name, otherwise a lovely copy, fine indeed, in a near fine price clipped and toned dust wrapper with two small edge tears. Sir Gavin Rylands de Beer (1 November 1899 – 21 June 1972) was a British evolutionary embryologist, known for his work on heterochrony as recorded in this 1930 book, later reissued under the title Embryos and Ancestors. He was director of the Natural History Museum, London, president of the Linnean Society of London, and a winner of the Royal Society's Darwin Medal for his studies on evolution.
No less an authority than Stephen Jay Gould wrote in 1977 of this work:

NY: Dodd Mead, 1930. Illustrated by C. E. Brock. Decorated boards with two small tears to top spine, spine text and decoration dulled, otherwise a nice copy. Accompanied by scarce dust wrapper, spine faded, chipped (not affecting text) and torn (two 1" tears across, 3" tears to top and bottom of spine side). Rear flap clipped, top 1.25" of front wrap faded.

New York: Harper & Brothers, 1865. First Edition. Historical reflections on the influence of climate, immigration & political ideas on national development, with particular reference to the United States. Brown cloth hardcover with gilt title on spine and author's gilt stamped signature on front board. Pages uncut, a seemingly unread copy. Top spine worn, otherwise about fine.
