Gilt on top edge; deckled on other edges. Tri-color title pages under tissue facing illustration frontispiece on all volumes. Covers show minor shelf wear to corners and spine ends; front bottom corner of Vol. 4 bumped. Covers also show small spots of discoloration - likely insect damage to fabric: (first photo shows volume with worst damage; second photo shows typical damage to other volumes). Spines are slightly soiled and labels show some browning and minor scratches and nicks. Leaves are slightly age-tanned, somewhat heavier on endpapers. Text blocks are clean and exceptionally tight to binding. Owner bookplate on front pastedowns: 'Owen Shoemaker,' who was the owner of the historic bookbinder supplies company J.
