Description:
Bridgeport, Connecticut: The American Palestine Committee, 1977. Dacey's letter was in reference to an advert placed in the New York Times by a group of influential evangelical Christians in support of Israel. Dacey repudiates the claim that the Jews have always inhabited Jerusalem and derides the evangelicals' delusional belief "of a prophesied conversion of fifteen million Jews to Christianity," [while] Rabbi Marc Tannenbaum and his fellow Zionists are snickering behind their hands, hard put to conceal their contempt for the gullible 'goyem'." Two corner-stapled 11" x 8 ½" sheets. The letter occupies both sides of the first sheet and the original advert is reprinted on the recto of the second sheet. Wilcox Collection stamp to the top corner of the first page.

Description:
Edinburgh: National Union of Mineworkers (Scottish Area), 1946. A report by a young British miner who was a part of a delegation of 17 young people invited to tour the Soviet Union in December 1945 by the Soviet Anti-Fascist Youth Committee. Daly writes favorably about his experiences and the potential to learn about the Soviet's nationalized coalmining industry, which he hopes is adopted in Britain. He's also concerned with the deteriorating relationship between Britain and the Soviet Union and hopes to correct the "dangerous campaign of lies and slander" furthering this deterioration. He concludes his report by writing, "If we grasp our opportunity, the young miners of Britain and the rest of British youth will be as capable as the youth of the Soviet Union, or any other country, of creating a new and happy life for the common people" (p. 16). Stapled, photo-illustrated wrappers (8" x 5"), 16 p., four photographs (includes cover photograph). A near fine copy of a scarce pamphlet. Worldcat finds… Read More

Description:
[New York?]: [Published by the author?], 1966. A defense of the slogan "black power" as an expression of "Negro group solidarity" and "communal self-assertion." Danzig, a Jewish professor at Columbia, discusses the transition from the liberal, interracial civil rights movement to a new phase of militant self-interest. Although he views this change as a positive one, he warns: "A Negro movement based primarily on self-interest is a necessity, but a Negro movement based exclusively on self-interest is doomed to failure." Danzig's paper was published in the September 1966 issue of Commentary magazine and was widely cited and reprinted. We assume this mimeographed copy circulated before the Commentary publication. Corner-stapled, 11" x 8 ½" sheets mimeographed from typescript, 10 p. Fine. This edition not found in OCLC.

Description:
Belmont / San Marino: The Movement to Restore Decency, [197-]. First published in 1969 by the author, deTar criticizes Synanon, an AA-inspired program founded by former alcoholic Chuck Dederich in 1958. The program employed a variety of unconventional and controversial therapies to cure drug addicts and other anti-social behavior. It later expanded to include various business and real estate ventures, but became increasingly cult-like and violent. deTar's primary objection is its Marxist approach to group therapy and Soviet-inspired brainwashing. John H. DeTar, was a urologist who helped found the Nevada chapter of the John Birch Society. He later established the Athanasius Press, "a conservative Catholic publishing house to preserve traditional Catholic teaching and liturgy" (DeTar obituary) and was later affiliated with the American Independent Party, founded to elect segregationist Alabama Governor George Wallace.
