Dark red cloth, slightly rubbed, slightly more so on the spine Some slight browning and spotting of the contents.Ink ownership inscription on front endpaper with evidence of removal of small label on front pastedown. Overall a good sound copy. A novel by Orcadian author and historian J S Clouston, set in the Orkney Islands, an island group off the north coast of Scotland with a viking and Norse heritage, rather than Gaelic or Celtic 1904.

The author has edited and improved the first edition of 2001 and added the Afghan and Iraq campaigns. Chapter one deals with the Aboriginal wars of resistance. Very good unused copy without a slip case.

London, John Walker, 1825.. Hardcover. Good. 27 copper engraved plates as called for, with accompanying page of descriptive text. Half marbled calf, slightly rubbed. The spine sturdily and neatly repaired with an overlay of black buckram, 25.5 x 18 cm. Some water staining, mostly marginal, and fingering and spotting. One plate, (Polignano) is stained and worn along lettered portion, where it has suffered some adhesion, and the top margin is missing, but the engraved area is complete and clean. The whole has been backed to strengthen and preserve it. A sound copy of a scarce early 19th century book of Italian views, no doubt issued to cater for the interest in the Romantic Poets and Grand Tourists of the era.
