Description: Fictional account, but based on historical research. The explanation by the author states: ''The following story is based on a foundation of twenty years' research. Its primary objective is to rebuild, repeople and reactivate the forgotten mining camp of Rabbit Creek in the 1850s, a camp later renamed La Porte. It also relates the lives of Rufus Swett and Charlotte Holcomb and many others who lived there during the turbulent mining years. The basic facts regarding the prominent characters are founded on and verified by records. Some of these records are sketchy and have been elaborated on. Paducah, Kentucky:: Collector Books, 1983.. Hardbound . BINDING/CONDITION: dark navy cloth with bright gilt text and decoration; Very Good condition; the pricing pamphlet also Very Good.. 4to (about 11.25 inches tall) . Description: The book is devoted almost exclusively to images. A foreword and index at front comprise all the text. The photographs are labeled, but there are no captions. An example of the labels: a page header giving pattern name (Cambridge Square) and labels for each individual piece: (3797/22 / 7 in. Salad Plate). This includes a separate insert, a stapled pamphlet giving pricing information. These prices are of course well out of date, but may still be helpful in establishing relative value. This pamphlet is dated 1983. When using this guide it important to note the page numbers referenced are those printed at center, near the top. The page numbers printed at bottom are quite erratic and are the page numbers from the original Cambridge catalogs. This was originally published in 1978.
