Rebound in modern full pebble grain morocco with earlier labels preserved on the spine. Gilt-edged all around. A near-pristine, very fine copy. Love in a Riddle is a ballad-opera, Cibbers attempt to emulate John Gays Beggars Opera. His attempt did not meet with critical success, in fact, his effort was condemned. However, he rescued its comic subplot for his Damon and Phillida.

This is a book written to bring folklore to children, with stories about wise men and foolish men, heroes, rajas, animals of the forest and the river. With a glossary and guide to pronunciation at the end. The dust jacket has some wear across the top, generally good, The book is in very good condition, some wear at the head and foot of the spine.
