Han var en duktig latinist och hade en fin samling romerska författare. Han figurerar i bakgrunden i Maria Langs deckare ”Mördarens bok”.

Agapitus m. Praenestin 1744", all edges gilt. A minor hole on spine. Owner’s signature on fly leaf ”Hic liber est Josephi Rettenpacheri. On front edge is written in ink ”IRP”. He wrote two famous works for the crown prince whom he tutored, one on general history and one political-theological. He fought protestantism, but at the same time he marked the independence of the French church towards Rome. Antoine Caillot (1757-1830), French author, mainy of books on history and travel.
