Good. Octavo. [184] pages. First edition. Title within double line border. Text in double columns. A4, B8-M8. In a modern Cambridge panel-style binding. Wing E5. Washed. Lower margin extended in a number of leaves, rarely affecting text. The book must have been in a fire, charring the lower part of the pages, but luckily not affecting the text. A stain, starting around I6, and getting worse toward the end, in the lower right-hand margin of the book. For all the faults described, still a very good copy.

Ordish was an English author who specialized on folklore, Shakespeare and drama. One of the richest sources on British Theatre in the 17th and 18th centuries.

John Alexander Fuller Maitland (7 April 1856 - 30 March 1936) was an influential British music critic and scholar from the 1880s to the 1920s. He encouraged the rediscovery of English music of the 16th and 17th centuries, particularly Henry Purcell's music and English virginal music.
