Contemporary half morocco and cloth over boards, raised bands, spines in six panels, title lettered directly to second panel, author and volume number to third. Rubbed to extremities, corners bumped and worn. Internally some light browning, some sporadic spotting to a few signatures of first volume, one or two instances of off setting from plates, ffep creased. First volume with thirty-two engraved plates, including the portrait frontispiece; the second volume with eight plates, including a coloured frontispiece of tradesman's tokens, and with the rare plate of Pytchley House, which seemingly only had sixteen subscribers. No Place: No Publisher, 1877. Single sided printed ballad, approximately 125mm x 315mm in size. Lightly foxed, creased from old folds, couple of minor nicks to edges at folds, but fairly bright. A dialogue between W. and K. about a land sale, where W. notes that K. has enough money to buy the land over the local lord. K. states that W. couldn't even afford the deposit and bemoans Radicals assailing his property rights. W. then advises K. that Death is at hand, and he would do better to retire and marry a widow, rather than a young maid, as "It may be that the Lass for lucre's sake, To the old Man may in appearance take, But youth and beauty 'tis a shame to see, Grafted upon an old and sapless tree". West Cowes: Medina Press, 1849. Single sided printed broadside, approximately 225mm x 285mm in size. Lightly creased, lightly browned and dust stained. Text in double column, decorative borders. Bannard, b. c.1773, does indeed seem to have wandered, there are separately printed poems of his known from Derbyshire, Stratford Upon Avon and Shropshire amongst other places (see Goodridge, 'A Catalogue of Labouring-Class and Self-Taught Poets and Poetry c.1700-1900'). He also had a small volume of his poems published in Daventry in 1840 under the title 'The Origin and Progress of a Noble Family in the West of England and The Flower of Eydon'. The printer was John R.[ichard] Smith (fl.1844 according to BBTI, but obviously also later), with the Medina Press seemingly having been around, under a different owner, R. Tilling, since about 1806. Lincoln: T.O. Brumby [Printer] Single sided printed broadside, approximately 205mm x 335mm in size, n.d. c.1850? A couple of small closed tears to head, lightly creased from old folds, lightly browned, otherwise clean. The printer was T.[homas] O.[xley] Brumby, of 1 Butcher Street, Lincoln (fl. 1841-1861), he was also a bookseller, stationer and bookbinder according to the BBTI. Appears to be an argument for the baptism of (clothed) infants, with a sprinkling of water rather than full immersion. First Edition. Unbound. Good. Folio. Broadside.

Author label to volume two chipped with loss, slightly chipped to head of spines, covers slightly scuffed, joints split with small amount of loss, but holding well on cords. Barnsley: John Elliott, 1847. 16pp, folding frontispiece, disbound. Ex-library copy with number to reverse of title and catalogue note to reverse of folding frontispiece, lightly browned, slightly chipped, folding frontispiece coming slightly detached from pamphlet at head but holding well, worn to spine where removed from a volume of pamphlets, otherwise fairly clean. The sermon comprises the first twelve pages, with a 'Brief Narrative of Events' of three pages, the final page lists the people killed in the disaster, including several children, the youngest being ten years old. The folding frontispiece is an image of the funeral procession taken from the Illustrated London News. Elliott appears at May-Day Green in the BBTI as a printer, bookseller, stationer, librarian/owner of circulating library, fl. 1840-1857. Uncommon, BL only in COPAC. First Edition. Disbound.
