Prominent Portland businessmen and eventual mayors of Portland, Josiah and Henry Failing’s mercantile store operated on Portland’s Front Street, now Niato Parkway, near Barrett’s store. Typical purchases such as envelopes and Wilkie’s Woman in White are shown along with two different debits curiously marked as “to cash”. Barrett allowed the Fairlings to accumulate a large debt, of over two hundred dollars. Contemporary folds, small loss of paper, age toning. Very Good.
