Publications : joint editor of 6th (1882), and sole editor of 7th (1895), edition of Bateman on Auctions; author of treatise on The Solicitors' Remuneration Act, 1881 (1883); From Peru to the Plate, 1889. His hobbies included fishing, and walking when presumably this fine map came in very useful.. Soft cover. Very Good.

The spine has a leather label and five raised bands & is densely tooled in gilt. This copy was used as a sample of Mr Dickens bookbinding skill & was purchased by us directly from the bookbinders grandson in its original book cabinet.. Hardcover. Very Good.

Original blue cloth, (spine very slightly faded and with very slight rubbing to head and tail). Complete with original colour printed dustjacket (all edges slightly chipped, missing a large section at the foot of the central panel, creased with some minor tears and staining on the upper central section). This in depth account of the preparedness of America for World War One, has a generally critical view but analyses the significant part played by the Plattsburg movement. Inscription of previous owner in neat hand "Hilda Shaw, 30 Lyndale Avenue NW8" on front free end paper. Some marks to the boards and a small incision to the oatmeal cloth of about 5mm. László Moholy-Nagy, 1895-1946, was a Hungarian painter and photographer as well as a professor in the Bauhaus school. He was highly influenced by constructivism and a strong advocate of the integration of technology and industry into the arts. The New York Times called him "relentlessly experimental" and he fled Nazi Germany to the UK in 1935 when he took the photos for this book. Mary Benedetta in 1941 wrote the Script for the film "19 Metre Band"; in 1942 directed the film "Blitz Wash"; in 1946 wrote the Scenario for "General Election"; and in 1949 adapted the scenario for "Bait". .. 1st Edition. Modern full, green, crushed morocco binding depicting an artist's palette. The palette is in inlaid brown goatskin stretching from the back to the front cover, with black outline and thumb-hole and mixtures of oil paints in different coloured relief. The binding was hand-bound by Dawn Wallis for her 1989-92 HIGH NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN BOOKBINDING AND DESIGN, at the London College of Printing and Design at the Elephant and Castle in London. Impeccable provenance: from the personal library of Irene Wagner, senior Labour Party archivist, historian and former Party Chief Librarian. She helped found the International Association of Labour History Institutions. Irene was also a key supporter of the People s History Museum in Manchester. During the 2nd World War Irene worked at Woburn Abbey, in the political intelligence department of the Foreign Office, helping the Special Operations Executive distribute propaganda over Germany. I purchased Irene's Library in 2016 from her Grand-daughter at Irene's Bloomsbury flat where she had lived for 72 years.
