With a number of maps, some folding, and copper engraved portraits, including a frontispiece to each volume. Contemporary full suede with raised bands and gilt titles to a red label on the spine. Red morocco ownership label of William Lucos to front pastedown, stamped in gilt with the date 1817. Offset to flyleaf. Light spotting near plates. Some maps slightly mis-folded, with some minor repairs. Upper joint split, but holding in place. Heavy wear to binding with significant losses to head and tail of spine. Fair. A journalist from Leeds, Baines made extensive use of Alexander Stephens' 'The History of the Wars which arose out of the French Revolution' (1803) for the period up to 1801, which accounts for the first third of this vast tome.
