Illustrated throughout with colour photographs. Publisher's colour-illustrated soft covers, stapled twice. Some minor handling; very good. Published to accompany the hit James Bond film based on the short story by Ian Fleming, directed by John Glen, produced by Albert R. Broccoli, and starring Roger Moore, Carole Bouquet, Topol and Julian Glover.

Cambridge and London: Macmillan and Co., 1865. [Philosophy] FINELY BOUND, the third edition thus. Small octavo (17 x 12cm), pp.[2] xxxii; 388 [2]. In a later binding of brown full morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles to spine, and gilt and blind decoration to boards, dated August 1930 in pencil to first blank. Top edge gilt, with patterned endpapers. A touch of light spotting to first and final leaves, otherwise crisp and clean internally. Some rubbing to joints. Very good. A classic selection of pithy philosophic essays by the father of modern scientific empiricism.

Publisher's blue cloth with gilt titles to spine. Blue patterned endpapers. With the dust-jacket also illustrated by Lenton, priced at £12.99. A fine, as-new copy. Almost a graphic novel, Baddiel's narrative mixes seamlessly with Lenton's illustrations in this humorous adventure for children.

Pair of Baden-Powell association copies, with a letter of authenticity from the scout association: 1) The Angler In South Africa. Inscribed "To The Chief Scout" by H.V. Marsh, the Assistant Commissioner of Natal during Baden-Powell's trip to South Africa in 1926. Octavo, pp.190. Bound in publisher's gray cloth over card boards, titles in black to upper and spine. With 34 photographic plate illustrations, and a fold-out appendix of fish, where they can be found, and what baits are most suitable for catching them. Binding shows some bumping to spine ends, case slightly shaken, spine sunned, rear joint showing a little gauze. Internally clean, with no signs of spotting. Illustrated throughout by the author, depicting the techniques and tribulations involved in the pastime of spearing wild pigs from horseback. Some very light wear only; final leaf of ads uncut. A fine, bright copy, formerly the property of General Viscount Garnet-Wolseley [1833-1913], head of the British Army, with his armorial bookplate to the pastedown. Handsomely bound in brown half morocco, gilt, with contrasting blue title label and cloth sides. Marbled paper over sides. Contents clean but for some very light and occasional foxing, exterior as new. A near fine copy in an attractive recent leather binding. Stated as a reissue on the title page, this edition is thoroughly revised and enlarged.

Elegantly hand-bound in half dark blue oasis morocco leather over marbled sides, spine gilt-lettered in six compartments with raised bands, top edge gilt. A little spotting to first and final leaves else a fine copy in attractive recent leather binding.

Other publications listed to the back. A little bumping and scuffing to spine and corners with a slight lean. Light toning to pages, slightly darker to endpapers, a very good copy. Quite a frail dust-jacket with fairly large losses to the spine area, affecting the publisher's name a little, smaller losses to flap folds, including a 5cm tear to upper front flap fold. Good.

With a number of maps, some folding, and copper engraved portraits, including a frontispiece to each volume. Contemporary full suede with raised bands and gilt titles to a red label on the spine. Red morocco ownership label of William Lucos to front pastedown, stamped in gilt with the date 1817. Offset to flyleaf. Light spotting near plates. Some maps slightly mis-folded, with some minor repairs. Upper joint split, but holding in place. Heavy wear to binding with significant losses to head and tail of spine. Fair. A journalist from Leeds, Baines made extensive use of Alexander Stephens' 'The History of the Wars which arose out of the French Revolution' (1803) for the period up to 1801, which accounts for the first third of this vast tome.

Shortlisted for 1984 Booker Prize. A largely autobiographical novel which draws extensively on Ballard's experiences in World War II, 'Empire of the Sun' recounts the story of a young English boy, Jim Graham (Ballard's first and middle names are James Graham), who lives with his parents in Shanghai just before its capture by the Japanese. Basis for the Oscar-nominated Steven Spielberg movie (1987) starring starring Christian Bale, John Malkovich, and Miranda Richardson.

This is the author's 2nd novel, about a man who moves to Tel-Aviv with his mistress as he attempts to run away from the suffocating society he was living in.

Contemporary full speckled calf, with raised bands, and gilt titles to contrasting red and black labels to spines. All edges speckled red. Quite heavy spotting to endpapers, with some small black ink notes, and some offsetting to facing leaves. Internally clean. Rear fly-leaf to volume I detached but still present, heavily chipped to edges. Heavy wear to bindings, with losses to spine head and tails, and joints split or starting. Volume label to volume II lost, painted over in black to better match volume I. Further re-colouring to joints. Good.
