Description:
ASE S-26 / 1945/ One of the few ASE "Made Books": paperback only edition (PBO), first and only edition available. Seven stories included here, three H. P. Lovecraft mentions in "Supernatural Horror in Literature", naming Algernon Blackwood as one of the four "modern masters" of horror, "one absolute and unquestioned master of weird atmosphere". "The Wendigo" inspired a character in the Cthulhu Mythos, and creature in August Derleth's "The Thing That Walked on the Wind". "The Willows" Lovecraft identified as perhaps the greatest weird tale in the English language. "A Psychical Invasion" presents a writer dependent on drugs to stimulate his muse: ghost of a murderess haunts the author's home taking control of his mind. Relates a popular 19th century biological theory that all organic matter (here a house) contains memory. Printed across two columns to make reading under battlefield conditions easier. Paperback, stapled on the short side.

Description:
The intent of this is to relate the background and the frontier experiences of the Wendish colony established in Texas in 1854 which, according to the knowledge and belief of the writer, is the only Wendish colony established in Texas and in North America. Other Wends came over with German colonists to parts of the United States and Canada, but not as a colonial group. In presenting the story of these pioneers, the writer has endeavored to give a brief sketch of the Wends' Slavic ancestry to answer the questions frequently asked, "Who are the Wends?" and "Where did they come from?"
The Wends never had a nation of their own. They emigrated to this country from Germany. They came from the Lusatias, located on the Spree River, which today have diminished to a mere geographical expression.
