British issue, with A rating and J. Arthur Rank logo inset. A rookie cop investigates an automobile chop-shop operated by juvenile delinquents who race hot rods. Mamie was prominently featured in most of the ad campaigns, and the soundtrack includes early rockers Bill Haley and the Comets. Based on Benson's "The Girl in the Cage." 7.75 x 10 inches, double weight. Very Good, light curl, tiny creases, light dampstain to one edge, small bruise to verso.

Union Central Life Insurance, 1953. Very Good. Vintage ink blotter featuring advertisement for the Union Central Life Insurance Company with a vignette cartoon by Chas Addams, notable for his "Addams Family" and dark, macabre humor. Blotters were useful during the heyday of fountain pens (a device that tended to bleed ink), to be placed behind the parchment to absorb the excess ink and keep safe any surfaces beneath. Other blotters featuring the Union's ads include calendars with woodcut art by Lumen Winter. About 4 x 9 inches, card stock, printed on recto, plain blue verso. Very Good overall, foxing, rubbing, toning, a few bumps and creases but discreet. A rare Addams appearance.

Incredibly scarce novel about police brutality against homosexuals in Los Angeles, by the president of the Institute of Psychological Research and Education, a nonprofit organization devoted to helping “sexual deviants.” Little known of Allen, his work, or those he’s helped, apart from tidbits about the subsequent 1973 film Allen wrote directed and starred in. Gay and lesbian communities in Los Angeles rose after counterculture of the 1960s, Haight-Ashbury, Sunset Strip riots, and Stonewall, and set the scene for numerous organizations in the AIDS fueled 1980s. Early documents like Allen’s on police violence are foundational to understanding what’s happening today, especially here in Baltimore. Very Good Plus in like jacket. Blotters were useful during the heyday of fountain pens, a device that tended to bleed ink, placed behind the parchment to absorb the excess ink and keep safe any surfaces beneath. Other blotters featuring Coca-Cola ads were also released, many with pinup art, and those with pinup and the red circle logo tend to be most common. Cursory glances at current market trends lend relative scarcity to those without pinup or the red circle. About 3.5 x 7.75 inches, card stock, printed on recto, plain verso. Very Good overall, light foxing, rubbing, toning, a few light bumps and small creases.

Trucker lore and the likes of "Smokey and the Bandit" were in their heyday, lending relevance to an "on the road" culture of the era.
