Tight copy. A wonderful warm gift inscription, on front end-paper, dated 1844 . Engraved frontis of sailing ships, has original tissue guard. This title is not part of a series, but a "stand alone' title. (Abbott also wrote the delightful 'Rollo' series for children.) 180 pages. Hard to find early title. Protected in a mylar slip.

Engraved frontispiece offset to title page (lacks tissue guard). Scattered mild foxing throughout, with one page having a bent tip.A wonderful copy of a hard to find title.
