Greenbrae, California: Allen Press, 1982. One of 140 copies. Printed in Italian Old Style and Deepdene italic on Richard de Bas mill handmade paper. The running headings on each page are in two colours, varying as to the areas of Italy covered: Genoa, Venice, Naples, Rome and Florence. Sm. 4to., original full cloth binding using a red and beige Fortuny hand blocked fabric 'Canestrelli' (named for a Venetian shell), in the original clear vinyl protective jacket. A fine copy. ||Original prospectus inserted loose.A classic of travel literature, Dickens wrote 'Pictures from Italy' at the age of only 32 when he was already famous for some of his greatest work such as Oliver Twist and A Christmas Carol. He leased a villa in Genoa and then travelled throughout Italy writing detailed letters all the way. The book was first published in 1846.|Allen Press Bibliography, 47.

Printed in 18 pt Centaur. 17 x 11 cms, bound in blue stiff wrappers with paste paper endpapers, printed label on upper cover, held in a bright blue wire and card clasp, housed in the original cloth and paste paper portfolio box.||Sudden Blue is a book that celebrates blue; how colour can inform memory and recollection. The starting point was two lines from a poem called Sudden Light by Dante Gabriel Rossetti, and these are printed as a prelude in the book. They are followed by a Venetian inspired series of pages in colours from deep ultramarine to pale turquoise. These are of differing textures and seemingly random shapes and sizes, but in fact the sequence took time to develop satisfactorily and it is designed to complement the three prints and the typeset words. Bound by the artist in a yellow leather spine and purple and batik paper over boards which have been stencilled in green, pink and yellow resin lacquer and onlaid with yellow and green lines. The title printed in green on the upper board. The book is enclosed in a cage made of cream paper-pulp in a random, open-work texture. Housed in a raspberry red folding case with a yellow leather fastening.||Five delightful and irresistible things are described, with prints, and shut up inside a paper cage. Le Comte (signed in gilt on rear turn-in) in red morocco, covers tooled in gilt to an elaborate fanfare design with connecting compartments of fillets and gouges, containing a basket of flowers, a quiver and bow and fleurons with fronds and sprigs, the central compartment left empty, surrounded by leafy stems and scrolls.
