Edges slightly dusty, spine of jacket a touch sunned with a few tiny nicks at crown. A lovely fine copy. Rare in jacket, with no copy recorded as sold at auction. Describes the Italo-Turkish campaign of 1911-12 in which the invading Italian forces tried unsuccessfully to conquer Libya. This book covers the military moves of both sides, although its sympathy lies with the defending Arab troops for whom the conflict was indeed a 'Holy War'.

Rebound in the mid twentieth century in tan half morocco, with raised bands, gilt titles and decoration to spine, and marbled paper over boards. Title page and final leaf of index show restoration. Restoration also to margins of many leaves, especially lower edge. Map shows extensive repairs. Quite a well-thumbed copy with some marks and spotting throughout. Essentially clean and complete. Smart new binding shows light wear only. Good.

Interspersed with a blank leaf for every leaf of text, intended for notes. The editor's preface in Latin, followed by the main text in Greek, with extensive footnotes in Latin, and a large Glossary. Contemporary tan half calf, with gilt ruling to spine, and pale blue paper over boards. Three separate ink ownerships to fly-leaf, including 'Wentworth Huyshe | Harrow | May 2. 1828.' Light toning and spotting throughout, with occasional ink notes to blank leaves. Upper joint / hinge professionally repaired; otherwise moderate general wear to binding, including some loss from spine head. Very good. A critical edition of Aeschylus' 'The Persians' first published in 1814, by the Trinity College Fellow, and later Bishop of London.
