    Sydney: H. King, 1890. Very good condition. Christmas card with albumen photograph of the Manly ferry chugging diagonally across the image towards Manly at the upper left. The entrance to Sydney Harbour visible in the distance . On the South Head, the lighthouse can be clearly seen. Ship decked out with bunting also visible. With a caption at the lower edge of the image "9. Sydney Heads. H. King Photo. Syd." Blank on verso. Photo 6 x 3 1/2" mounted on brown card 6 1/2 x 4 1/4". "With Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas and a Bright New Year" printed below the image and decorative curlicues and beveled card edges gilt. Faint foxing just to right of ferry, corners a trifle rubbed. Very bright image, not found in Trove.

    1883. Ephemera. Good + overall. LaDue was a member of the Columbian Hose Co. #2 of Newburgh, New York in 1883. This photo shows LaDue holding his fireman's hat in his right arm. Printed on verso: Remillard, 82 Water Street, Newburgh, NY. Photo 4 1/4 x 6 1/2", dusty, rubbed at corners and along bottom, pinhole at top center, some pencil writing at top, signature and date in black ink along left border, gilt edges.

Many bystanders in front of a building with mileage signs to Raleigh, Richmond, Portsmouth and a Waiting Room for White People. 4.74 x 4", slightly faded, creased on lower corner.

    1910. Near fine. Magnificently sharp real photo of Potts Point with the words " With Best Wishes for a Happy Christmas" printed in gold in the sky area. The bright and clear image of the buildings and ferry are clearly visible. Postally used, with stamps, addressed to a Denver Colorado address, dated 1910. 13.7 cm x 8.7 cm. Image not recorded in Trove. The exact title appears to be "341. Potts' Point Sydney 21."

    Commandant & Mrs. Booth, cabinet card with albumen photograph by Booth, Herbert

    Collingwood, Victoria: Allan, 1896. Albumen print of the Mr. & Mrs. Booth laid on to cabinet card. The couple were leaders of the Australian Salvation Army in the late 1890's; over time Herbert Booth came to the conclusion that the government of the Salvation Army was in need of radical reform and decentralization; unable to effect the change, the couple resigned in 1902. The albumen print of the couple, both in uniform, framed within an ornate shield, with two crossed flags, the left one inscribed "Fire" and the right one "Blood", and a crown at the top, with an inscription on it: "Holiness Unto the Lord". Allan (photographer) with printed address, 318 Smith Street, Collingwood, at the base. 6 1/2 in. x 4 1/4 in. Very good condition.

    Ca. 187?. Very good condition. Portrait of the Claimant in the Victorian fraud case with Australian connections. Image of the rotund bearded man, sitting at a table. The individual was sometimes referred to as Thomas Castro or as Arthur Orton, but usually was called "the Claimant". He claimed to be the missing heir to the Tichborne baronetcy. On plain stiff board, not signed. Penciled below the image is "the claimant". 2 3/8 x 4"

    Carte de Visite photo of Burmese Prince, Maung Shaw Loo (1839 - 1929) in his native dress by Mowry, E.L. (Photographer)

    Bucknell University, Lewisburg Pa.: E.L. Mowry. Photographer, 1860. First printing. Maung Shaw Loo (1839 - 1929), who was Bucknell University's first international student (Class of 1864) and who was the first Burmese native to study in the United States. After his graduation from the University, Shaw Loo was admitted to the newly organized Charity Hospital Medical College in Cleveland, Ohio, where in 1867, he obtained his medical degree. President Andrew Johnson was introduced to Dr. Shaw Loo and later provided a personal recommendation for him to the King of Burma, who not only allowed Shaw Loo to practice medicine in Burma but appointed him as a Prince. A fine, high resolution, sharp image of the impressive Dr Shaw Loo in full traditional Burmese costume standing next to a black silk upholstered chair which appeared in numerous Mowry portraits. Albumen full length portrait on stiff card with Mowry's name and town on verso. 2.25 x 3.25 cm.

    Pleasant view of the bridge as pedestrians experienced it, with a mother and daughter in hats and long skirts walking towards the viewer, and other pedestrians walking away from the viewer towards a distant Brooklyn. The main swag of piping holding the cables is the strongest architectural feature in this photo, focusing the view on the pedestrians. With the number 58. prefacing the title in the bottom margin, which has very slight fading. Overall the photo is in excellent condition. Albumen photo, 8 1/4 x 6 5/8"
