Description:
Boston, MA: James Munroe and Company, 1847. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blindstamped brown cloth boards with gilt text on spine. Exterior shows some spotting and soiling, edges and corners show bumps/wear. Corners are somewhat rounded and spine edges are chipped. The only reason for the low condition grade of fair is because it appears the first front end page is missing. The only reason this is suspected is because the front pastedown is pale yellow and the opposite page is not. The remaining binding is good though pages 65-67 has a little bit of play and you can see it sticking out of the exterior page edge by a fraction. The first two blank front end pages very faint evidence of something written in pencil and then erased, to we can just see faint markings and indentations. The first 70 pages is in Greek in the remaining 129 pages is in English and covers notes and metres. Pages are toned but clean with… Read More

Pittsburgh, PA: The Leader All Sorts Co., 1892. Hardcover. Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, navy blue cloth boards with gilt text on front. Exterior shows scuffing on all sides along with edge and corner bumps. Interior pages are toned due to age and some soiling and fingerprints are present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings. Overall, binding is good but the quadrant of pages 53-60 are pulling away from the binding at the bottom. This appears to be more of a flaw when the book was bound and not through misuse.

New York: Albert & Charles Boni, Inc., 1932. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, light grayish green cloth boards show only a few spots, mainly on the back but edges and spine are both sunned, with the spine being the most severe. Corners are good with only the slightest of bumping present. Internal binding is good as well, no hinge issues and text pages are tight. There is a bookplate on the front pastedown (Marian and Alfred Breslauer) but there are no other markings present: no signatures or handwriting, nothing torn or loose. Text pages are a bit toned due to age but are clean. The only reason the book got a condition grade of VG and not hire is because of the sunning of the exterior spine along with the spotting near the hinges.

New York: R. Martin, 1849. Hardcover. Poor. 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, full brown leather binding ornately decorated in gilt on all sides, all three textblock edges also gilt. The book is complete and the interior binding is good but the reason for the poor condition grade is the front cover is detached and there is a large chip missing from the top edge of the spine. The internal binding of the text pages is secure and interior is still well bound. There is moderate foxing throughout and pages are toned. The second front end page contains the signature from the original owner and the second and third front end pages show very faint evidence of wear and old store price was once penciled in the corner. Front and rear end pages and pastedowns are of a blind stamped paisley style design. These pages do show darkening in spots along the edges, as seen in the photos.
