Cloth, 8vo, 26 cm,. 123 pp. The results of an investigation prompted by the author's examination of two copies of 'Libro del Comandamenti di Dio' by Marco dal Monte Santa Maria. The book contains the earliest printed 'Recommended Reading List', and the author observed that in one copy this included 18 books, but in another there were 19, the additional item being 'Elthesauro de poueri in medicicina' - the 'Tesoro de poveri'. Why the discrepancy? Fine.

Title in red, within architectural border containing portrait of Andrea Alciati from his Emblemata, Paris, 1602. Pages [97]-279 are "A bibliographical catalogve of the variovs editions of the books of emblems of Andrea Alciati." The bibliography describes 179 editions, providing the following information: l. Title, transcribed line for line; 2. "Collation copy" described, and references to libraries containing copy; 3. Size; 4. Register; 5. Contents; 6. Emblems, devices and artists; 7. General remarks. Bookplate of Frederick Adolphus Philbrick, Middle Temple, on front pastedown endpaper. Front joint split but held by cords, covers rubbed at extremities, occasional slight foxing, an attractive copy.

Svmptibvs Iac. Rosenthal, Monachii, first editions, 1905-1911. 7 vols, original printed wrappers, 8vo,. [1], 206, [1], 208, [1], 219 + [1], 208 + [1],199 + [1],190 + 328 pp. 1921 entries. Reichling gives full details of books unknown to Hain and Copinger, and particulars of other books which have been previously imperfectly described. The first sections ("Additiones") contain in all 1921 unregistered works , which are numbered consecutively through the six parts. The second sections ("Emendationes") give the full titles of books already possessing Hain or Copinger numbers. They are arranged in these numbers, but in one alphabet, in each part. The index volume (not present here) has separate author indexes for the two sections, and an index of towns and printers, which includes both. Some wrappers spotted and a little marked, otherwise a Good set.

ém. Paul, L. Huard et Guillemin, Paris, first edition, 1894. Later library cloth, spine-titles, original printed wrappers bound in, 8vo,. vii, 516, [3] pp, facs, printed in red and black. The library binding is heavily marked on the front board and somewhat marked on the spine; internally the wrappers are somewhat darkened and the contents slightly agetoned but otherwise Good; the hinges have been neatly reinforced with cloth tape.
