A rare poster, issued by the Umoja Wa Wanawake Wa Tanzania (UWT), celebrating the recent declaration of 1975-1985 as the United Nations Decade for Women and demanding equality, peace, and development ("usawa amani na maendeleo"). The UWT was created 1955 as the women's branch of the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) and emerged in its current form in 1965, after the modern country of Tanzania was formed from the union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar. Early broadside of the Uranian Press, advertising founder Richard Tyler's first exhibition at Judson Gallery, March 25 - April 14, 1960. An April 6 review in the VILLAGE VOICE points to "pages from his Uranian Press folios and chapbooks ... . Here too are stark and striking woodcuts in the manner of Mexico's great Posada, aptropaic [sic] icons, giant paintings, and collages set off by fantastic hand-worked frames. Prices range from 30 cents for broadsides up to $1000 for a collage." Richard Oviet Tyler (1926-1983) established the Uranian Press in 1958 in the basement of a tenement on the Lower East Side where, by 1960, he had installed four printing presses. The propsectus and first issue of Noah Worcester's FRIEND OF PEACE quarterly journal, which ran to 1827. Worcester (1758-1837) was a Revolutionary War veteran and Unitarian Congregationalist pastor who helped lay the foundation for American peace movements with his 1814 tract, A SOLEMN REVIEW OF THE CUSTOM OF WAR. Early-1980s anti-American East German protest poster adapted from John Heartfield's 1932 photomontage, KRIEG UND LEICHEN - DIE LETZTE HOFFNUNG DER REICHEN ("War and corpses - The last hope of the rich") depicting a snarling hyena in a top hat. The poster replaces the hyena's teetch with white missiles and adds the caption, "USA-Raketen aus Westeuropa raus!" ("USA missiles out of western Europe!"). A rare survival.

A far-right, anti-Masonic, anti-Semitic screed listing scores of pro-masonic organizations and hundreds of contemporary "agents of freemasonry" in contemporary French politics and media by name. An illuminating double-page chart, "Pouvoir Occulte Judeo-Maçonnique," maps the collaboration between the Freemasons, Socialists, Communists, and bankers from their international organizations to their representation in the French Senate. Anti-Fascist work by the Italian journalist and anarcho-syndicalist Maria Rygier (1885-1953), examining the history of Freemasonry in Italy and the rise of Fascism in the context of anti-Masonic persecution. In 1914, committed to Italian interventionism in World War I, Rygier briefly worked as an editor at Mussolini's IL POPOLO D'ITALIA newspaper but was jailed the same year for syndicalist activism. By 1926, Rygier was openly opposing Mussolini and Fascism and fled to France, where she remained until the end of World War II. The preface of the book is written by noted French pacifist Lucien Le Foyer (1872-1952), who at the time of its publication was serving as the Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of France.

An account of the progress of the Belgian National League Against the Veneral Perils fight against syphilis, by its president, Professor Adrien Bayet (1863-1935), delivered on December 8, 1928, and published in 1929. The League had held its first conference in the great hall of Brusellss Palais des Académies on October 8, 1922, with its founding patron, Elisabeth, Queen of Belgium, and various other dignitaries in attendance, to address the spread of syphilis in Belgium in the aftermath of the First World War. The author, Andor Wiener (printed in the pamphlet in the Hungarian style, with surname first), presents the new Technocracy movement of Howard Scott et al., which advocated the replacement of price system-based forms of economy and government with industrial systems designed and maintained by scientists and engineers.
