Although the book sports a 1961 copyright date, this one is from the 21st printing and possesses an ISBN, making it much more recent. The novel itself was originally published in 1859.

A Charlotte and Thomas Pitt mystery (#10 of 32). A historical mystery set in late 19th century London; the Pitts have to solve the brutal murder of a member of Parliament. This book has the usual collection of chips and bumps around the edges and corners of the cover, and some yellowing to the pages. Binding has a bit of a weakness, but nothing is loose at the moment.

No dust jacket. Red fabric covered boards with pale blue decoration and print on the front and spine. The fabric is worn at the corners and the top and bottom of the spine. The pages are clean, tight and unmarked. Might be a first edition, no additional edition information given. A classic western.

This is the fourth of five novels in the Gladiator series, the only works that appear under the Quiller name, a pseudonym used by Kenneth Bulmer, Laurence James and Angus Wells. This appears to be a fairly rare book, most of which are priced well higher than mine.

A rare book, it seems. This one has been read and still can be. It does have chips along the edges, creases on the spine and parallel to it as well. Bumped corners and a 15 mm tear near the upper left corner of the front cover. Pages are clean, tight and intact.
