I am not clear on how the distinction is made between "Novels" and "Short Stories" as they are all short, ranging from five pages to forty. All of Narayan's fiction is based in an imaginary town called Malgudi.

The sisters are best known as Mesdames Chiang Kai-shek, Sun Yat-sen and Kung Hsiang-hsi. A rather rare book.

The jacket does have a very sharp crease running down the center of the spine, as if the jacket was removed from the book, folded and stored under some other books.
