It is what the title says. Obviously, without modern advancements in semiconductors, fullerene, graphene, superconductors, or AI. But, to understand those, you have to start somewhere else. This could be the place.Cover chipped around the edges; spine flattened. Pages intact, unmarked, clean. This book will ship at about three pounds. A thin book of heavy statistics. Seems to be an important work that is rather highly valued. My search came up with over sixty copies, most priced far above my price, so consider this a bargain, if you will. A part of the Sage University Papers Series. There is little wear to the book, a small amount of highlighting in pink and yellow, and a number written on the front cover.

No dust jacket. A math basics book for anyone who needs the boost. Coupled with a story from the supposed author, a high school junior. She takes you through the paces from the basics of numbers, the four basic functions, to fractions, decimals and percentages, then on to exponents, roots, ratios and statistics. No Algebra, no Calculus, just your basic mathematics (or arithmetic, if you prefer). Clear explanations, followed by enough drill for you to get the hang of it. Little wear, just a couple of smudges on the back cover. Doesn't look as if it has ever been used.

Very little wear. Owners' names inside the front cover. A small amount of very pale highlighting; otherwise, the pages are clean, tight and bright. Filled with lots of really cool looking math.

A small text on "new math", which hasn't really been new for decades and wasn't all that "modern" in the 1970s. All about sets and intersections, inequalities and graphs, number lines, Venn diagrams and Cartesian coordinates. (Venn named his diagrams in the 1880s, and Descartes came up with his coordinate system in the 1600s. Really modern, huh?)

Wear as befits this book's age. Green fabric cover, with the fabric splitting along the rear edge of the spine. Pages are tight and intact, with scattered notes. Owner's name inside the front cover and copious note on the rear endpapers. Spine is a little weak where the front endpaper is tearing.

Little wear. Pages slightly yellowed, but without any marks or notes. Rear cover has a water stain, lower half (can you see it in the photo?). 125 pages.

This book has suffered the indignity of being stained with some fluid, perhaps coffee. Photos #3- 5 can show you the extent of the staining. Otherwise, the book shows the kind of wear you would expect after over 140 years.

This book has been well used. Notes throughout, owner's name inside front cover. Looks like a paperback that has been stuffed in a bag repeatedly, because it is. Although it is 48 years old, the math is still pretty much the same. It just lacks all the pretty pictures and sidebar stories that make today's textbooks such oversized monstrosities. Covers plane, solid, coordinate and vector geometries. For those of you who grew up with calculators, a curiosity is included: trig tables. Ask your grandfather to tell you how to use them.

Minimal wear. A collection of enrichment activities for middle school math students. It even has some calculator activities, which is rather amazing, considering that calculators were rather simple and expensive in 1975.

No significant wear to book or jacket. A philosophical look at life as it relates to math and math as it relates to life. With puzzles! A rather scarce book.

Here we have one of the older books in my collection. A book on calculating quickly. Covers are paper over boards, with fabric over the spine. The paper is worn in places, while the fabric hasn't failed yet, but it is clearly thinking about it. Owner's names on the front endpapers, but the pages are clean, tight and unmarked. A somewhat rare book.

An introductory algebra course. Focuses a lot on the basics one would need to know before starting algebra. Other than a couple of bent corners on the cover, this book is like new. This book will ship at over two pounds. Excess shipping costs are included in the list price.

Very little wear. The spine is square and uncreased. Pages are clean, tight and unmarked. Front cover is curling a bit, back cover less. An informative and useful work for the biogeographer. A fairly rare book.

Cover is worn, with boards showing through in places and it has come off in back (see photo #2). Piece of the cover missing at the top of the spine. Pages are still attached with scattered notes, and many turned corners. Additional notes on the end papers.

Some minor wear to the cover, none on the pages. This book is designed for use in either a half or a full year mathematics survey course at the beginning college level. (Author's words.) Today, most students are required to reach Geometry if not Algebra II prior to graduation from High School, so this might fit into the high school curriculum now. I'd skip the computer programming chapter, unless you are still using FORTRAN IV. (State of the art in 1971.)
