A compact little volume that "...treats essential matters of grammar, diction, spelling, mechanics; and develops with thoroughness the principles of sentence structure".

Philadelphia: Porter & Coates, 1877. Hardcover. Fair/No Jacket. Heavy rubbing/wear to covers, binding loose but holding together well, extensive pencil notations inside front and back covers, and throughout. Signed by original users, various high school girls in coastal Maine in the 1880s. "Combining oral and written exercises in a natural and logical system of instruction". I bet a HS grad today could not figure this book out.

New York: Henry Holt, 1959. Yellow Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. Light shelfwear, some underlinings to the first fifteen or so pages. A collection of stories by Spanish authors, written between 1939 and 1958. Text is in Spanish. Nice clean copy.

Cambridge MD: Cornell Maritime Press, 1959. Blue Cloth. Very Good+/Good+. Minimal wear at corners, clean and unmarked. Jacket shows edgewear, light soiling. "Dangerous Marine Animals: That Bite-Sting-are Non-edible". Written by an MD, well illustrated. You'll need this on the desert island!

Edited by Margaret Holz and Teresa De Escoriaza. Appears to be a school edition; vocabulary at the back, test type questions in with text. Many illus, some in color. Sound copy.

Detailed textbook (400+ pgs) telling everything you need to know about opening up a store. Why anyone would want to do that, I don't know! Eighth printing of the second edition.

"Designed as a basis for instruction in that science in schools and colleges". Champlin was the president of Colby. The Treasury Dept. needs a copy of this book.

Many photos and diagrams; numerous ads in the back for textile machinery. This used to be quite an industry here in the Bangor, Maine area.
