This slim volume of romantic poetry is divided up by the seasons of the year with simple line drawings of quasi-erotic male and female figures. The cream-colored book comes in an identically illustrated pink paper outer jacket. There is some soiling to outer cover. No internal markings or plates. The hinge is slightly loose but very much intact.

A very handsome book of poetry collected for children, selected and illustrated by renowned illustrator, Jessie Wilcox Smith. Illustrated endpapers with ink dedication and date (1912) on FEP. Some light foxing to endpapers and soiling to boards. Ten full-page color illustrations and black and white header illustrations on every page. One full-page illustration and its tissue paper cover is detached but in excellent condition (see image). Pages are clean and made of heavy card-stock paper. Small pastedown on RFEP from noted San Francisco bookseller, Smith, Elder & Co. Hinge is tight and intact.

Photograph portrait of Brooke as frontispiece who was often referred to as "the handsomest man in England." Poems span his early period before World War I and those written during his time in the trenches. There is a biographical note by Margaret Lavington at the rear of the book. This lovely first edition contains all of Robert 'Robbie' Burns' poetry. Each poem is preceeded by a short summary explaining the subject of the poem and its historical context. A section of Notes and a Glossarial Index are in the back of the book. The boards are mildly soiled with a few minor scuffs. There is an ink name of the FFEP. No other internal markings. This two book set is comprised of May Sarton's short novel, Joanna & Ulysses and a volume of her poetry, Halfway to Silence. The novel follows the adventures and travel of a young Greek woman from Athens who goes to the island paradise of Mykonos to paint and find her true self . Upon arrival, she adopts a donkey who has been badly mistreated, nurses it back to health and becomes her companion on the island. Her poetry volume is a collection of lyric poems touching on many subjects. Joanna and Ulysses have lovely line drawing illustrations throughout.
Books are both in fine condition. The Dust Jacket for Joanna and Ulysses is price clipped, has a pen name in the FFEP and has some soiling and chips and bumps to edges. These 140 year old volumes are in Near Fine condition and seem never to have been opened or read. The hinge is very tight and there are no internal markings. The forefront of pages are brilliantly, edge-gilded. Woodworth was a well-known and loved 19th century Massachusetts writer, essayist, literary journalist and poet. He was read and appreciated for his highly sentimental poetry and love for his rural New England roots, exemplified in his most famous poem, "The Old Oaken Bucket." Priced to sell!

These 2 lovely miniature books were published some time in the first decade of the 20th century. The bindings are in very good condition with just slight fading and rubbing. End papers are marbled green. The Tennyson title's front end paper is attached, but loose along verso edge. Hinges are tight and pages are clean and bright. Each books has gold fore-edge painting. The Tennyson book has 90 pages with 23 songs. The Burns book has 105 pages with 44 songs, including the 5 verses of Auld Lang Syne.
