Hong Kong: John Nicholson, 1988. Hardcover. Very Good. This is an abridged version of the the first major work to explain China, its culture and history, to the Western reader. It was finally completed with its publication in 1859, during the second bout of the so called Opium Wars. Allom was a missionary in China and Wright was an architect who based his drawing on sketches made by others. In this abridgment by DJM Tate has selected 60 of the 143 plates from the original work. 127 pages followed by seven pages of colour plates. Weight 1kg. Post free within Malaysia The cover has minimal wear. The front and rear end papers have medium tanning and damp marks. Otherwise the binding is tight, the text is clear and there is mild tanning throughout.
