It was finally completed with its publication in 1859, during the second bout of the so called Opium Wars. Allom was a missionary in China and Wright was an architect who based his drawing on sketches made by others. In this abridgment by DJM Tate has selected 60 of the 143 plates from the original work. 127 pages followed by seven pages of colour plates. Weight 1kg.
