With sections on business philosphy, "Developing Human Assets", purchasing, production cost reduction, developing distribution, expansion of customer base while protecting the existing base, "Judging the Business Currents", etc. A tight, very good example, No jacket.

Ilustrated title page with engraving of the company headquarters, three pages of promotional text, 9 thick board pages each containg 5 different shaes of fabric and two flower patterned facric. About fine, gilt a bit dulled.

Oversized hardcover in orange cloth stamped in black. 134 pp. with index directory of products. Illustrated with hundreds of small engravings depicting vaious types of printing and newspaper equipment and ancillary devices. A fine, tight example, modest soiling to the spine strip otherwise bright exterior and interior. A very nice example indeed.

Berlin, Pa: Record Publishing Co, 1905. First edition. Hardcover. Near Fine. First editionm. Octavo in green cloth lettered and decorated in white. 93 pp. plus publisher's ads at rear. Frontispiece illustration. Some pages toward rear are unopened and a couple are roughly opened. Remarkably uncommon in original edition, a monograph by Pennsylvania journalist and editor discussing economic issues such as free competition, size of industry, and taxation and protective tariffs (both critical issues during the second Theodore Roosevelt administration, during which this work was published.) A tight, near fine example, minor rubbing at the extremities, occasional foxing in the text.

Hardcover in pebbled maroon cloth lettered in yellow. vii+ 157 including glossary, section of blanks at rear with headings for each chapter for note taking. A tght, near fine example, small ownership notation front pastedown. the spine is slightly sunned as is the very upper edge of the front cover. Some of the "Notes" pages have pencilled notes in corresponding chapters from the previous owner. One of the scarcest and most sought after vintage salemanship books. The author was Director and Instructor in Creative Salesmanship for the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism of the Poor Richard Club of Philadelphia.

Hardcover in black cloth lettered in gilt. x+ 206 pp. with index, publisher's adverts bound in between pp. 192 and the index. Inscribed and dated at Chicago, Jan.6, 1926 by the author on the front free endpaper. Tight, near fine example, spine lettering somewhat rubbed. An "expose" charging that there was a "gigantic, nation-wide scheme, backed by special interests, engineered by Prof. Richard Ely...set on foot in our educational institutions to lead people not toward the right solution of our economic probles but away from it." Regardless of its merits in its time, it has resonance today as a large portion of the work deals with taxation inequities.

A quick perusal showed us how what was true in 1913 is also true in some form or another, a century later. Fine.

Hardcover in blue cloth stamped in gilt. xvi (with two indexes)+ 414 pp. Fine in a bright, crisp dust jacket, very good with a bit of rubbing in small area of the front panel and shallow wear to the spine extremities and rear panel edges. Collection of some 200 short descriptions (usually one or two pages) of business ideas that caught on and of the originating companies and founders. These include household names such as Abbott Labs, Ford, Three M, Greyhound, Hertz, Hershey, Hoover, etc as well as lesser known names like Collins Radio, Fostoria Glass, Cory, Bird & Son and others.

The first issue after the conclusion of World War I, it contains, in addition to the title article, "1865 and 1918--Some Promising Analogies", "An English Impression of the Guaranty" and other pieces as well as a memorial page listing the companies dead and wounded.

Provides historical context regarding British Investment Trusts from 1862 forward, Second section concentrates on American Investment Trusts--organization, capital structure, management of trust securities, types of investment trusts, American institutions akin to the Investment Trust (investment banking, land banks, mortgage companies, mutual savings banks, life insurance companies).
