The U.S. Flag card ( "one Nation, indivisible" ) shows the Capitol and the Washington Monument. The Christian Flag card shows a gothic steeple over a landscape. Perhaps by H. P. Olsen doing business as a publisher in Milwaukee in the first half of the 20th century. Copyrighted in 1848 by William W. Ellsworth and Henry White, executors of Noah Webster, deceased. Sub-titled "Abridged from the American Dictionary by Noah Webster, LL.D. With Accented Vocabularies of Classical Scripture, and Modern Geographical Names." The title page notes 10,00 more words than Walker's Dictionary. W. G. Webster's preface disparages Walker's, particularly his pronunciations. The book has a rich Western provenance as the detached rear cover carries the ownership inscription of John Martin, Aleman Ranch New Mexico San Augustine.
