New York: D. Appleton-Century Company, 1938. ix, 457 pages. 8vo. First edition, first state: One of only 500 copies that were bound in black cloth and printed in 1938. Burrhus Frederic Skinner arguably was the most influential psychologist of the 20th century. Although his books Walden Two and Beyond Freedom and Dignity are his most popular works, it is in his first book The Behavior of Organisms, that he lays out the bases for his theories of behaviorism and operant conditioning based on experiments with laboratory animals. The book is clean and tight. It has been sympathetically rebacked in black cloth, with the original spine cloth laid down. A nice copy of a book not often found in collectible condition.. First Edition. Hardcover. Collectible-Very Good+/No Dust Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.
