Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "To Carl & Julie - Enjoy the Adventure, Christopher Healy." A good+ copy with wear at the board edges and rounding at the corners and spine tips. Text is clean and unmarked, but with a couple of dog-eared pages. Solid binding and hinges. Unclipped dustjacket with matching edgewear and rounding, creases to the rear flap - still bright and attractive. 438 pp., black and white illustrations by Todd Harris. The author's first children's book.

New York: William Morrow & Company, 1943. First edition. Hardcover. Poor. Wolo. Poor condition hardcover with spine covering missing and spine weave/binding weakening. Front cover colorful and billiant with Wolo's artwork. Rear cover stained and soiled. All pages intact and bound in, but definitely shaky due to the missing backstrap. Wear at the edges and corners through the paper and into the boards. Previous owner's gift inscription neatly to the front endpaper and penciled numbers in a child's hand to the first 4 pages. A heavily worn copy of this magnificently illustrated children's classic. 39 pp.
