A very good copy with mild edgewear and moderate corner bumps. Interior is clean and tight as if unread. Unclipped dustjacket is in good condition with wear at the spine tips and folds, some soil to the lower panels. 406 pp., indexed, the story of a modern journey on foot down the Mormon pioneer trail and a reflection on American dreams.

Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page, "To the students at Colton High School - Enjoy my view - Rex Ziak August 30th 2005." Sunning to the spine column and general shelfwear at the edges. A few scuffs to the bottom of the rear cover likely from a sticker removal. 219 pp., indexed, full of color illustrations.

New York: Kraus Reprint, 1980. Reprint. Hardcover. Good. Howard Simon. Dark blue hardcover, lacking jacket. A good copy of this modern reprint, with dusting and minor soil and scuffing to the covers. Solid binding and hinges and straight corners. A bit of crimping to the spine tips. Pages are unmarked, but some of the final pages with thumbing, and a little bit of age toning. 233pp., illustrations by Howard Simon. The story of mountain man Jedediah Smith, and his travels in the Rockies, including furthering the path for the Oregon Trail.

Texas: Eakin Press, 1992. First edition. Hardcover. Very Good/very good. Cushman, Russell. Red hardcover in dustjacket. Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title page, "June 29, 1992. To Carolyn and Skip Estelle - Our common bond is our proud McDougald Heritage. I hope our lives will bring honor to "the" clan. My best wishes, Ralph Cushman." Minor bending at the spine ends and the upper corners. Binding solid and text unmarked. Unclipped jacket bright and attractive with minor shelfwear at the top edge. 246 pp., notes, bibliography, index and a selection of black and white photos at the rear. Ilustrated by the author's son.

California: Published by the author, 1987. First edition thus. Paperback. Good. Signed and inscribed by the author on the title page, "For Molly and Bob, with love Jeannette." This is a highly personalized copy, with a typed and signed note laid in, along with a pioneer illustration postcard. A photo of the author and her husband is glued to the first blank the inscription on the photo is not quite legible through the page. On the inside of the rear cover is written the address of Dry Creek Books in Modesto who distributed Maino's books. Trade paperback in good condition, with fading to the blue covers and some bending at the corners. The binding is strong and the pages are clean. 213 numbered pages plus significant back-matter including a bibliography, and notes from the author. A novel of the Donner Party.

San Francisco: Fox & Wilkes, 1992. Hardcover. Very Good/good +. Red cloth hardcover with gilt spine lettering, in dustjacket. A very good copy with bumping at the extremities of the spine and a bit of bending to the upper board corners. Interior is clean and unmarked in a sturdy binding and hinges. Dustjacket has ruffling and bending along the top of the panel edges and a short blue pen mark to the top of the rear panel - unclipped, with light soiling to the cream panels. 306 pp., a solid collection of Spooner's writings on personal freedoms, anarchy, and the rights of the individual.

Oregon: Frontier Publishing, 1996. Paperback. Good. Oversize trade paperback in good condition. Pictoral covers, no indication of printing or edition. Minor shelfwear to the cover edges and some scuffing to the covers. Bending at the corners and a hard bump at the bottom rear corner. Ghost of a previous bookstore price to the top of the title page appears to be the only marking in the book. A clean and well-bound copy of this title. 247 pp., indexed, black and white photos, maps and illustrations. An examination of the overland journey of the Scott-Applegate Trail.

Nabu Press, 2010. Reprint. Paperback. Very Good. Trade paperback, oversize a Nabu public domain reprint - appears to be an electronically scanned copy of the New York Public Library's holding of the 1913 S.J. Clarke edition. The title page indicates "Volume I" though there is no volume statement on the cover. As is true with many of these scanned replicas, some of the pages are hard to read and the scanning is unclear. A very good copy with wear at the edges and light bending at the corners. Binding is solid with no creases or wide-open sections. Marked at 354 pp. - a solid history of the various townships and the original native peoples - typically poor scan quality, but the original is near impossible to find.

Texas: The Naylor Company, 1968. Hardcover. Good +/good +. Blue hardcover in dustjacket. No statement of edition, but not one of the original 100 handmade copies. A good plus copy with heavy wear at the spine ends and general shelf-wear to the edges and corners of the board. Previous owner's name to the front pastedown and a gift inscription to the first blank appear to be the only writing or markings. Binding is solid, but opens widely at the front hinge - not broken. The dustjacket has shome short tears at the joints, fading and light soil to the spine panel and edges, and a scar from a sticker removal to the rear panel. Overall a good plus copy of this history of Alpine, Oregon and the original Belknap settlement, put together by 3rd and 4th graders in pursuit of their local history. 222 pp., some black and white photos.

New York: Abelard-Schuman, 1971. Revised. Hardcover. Very Good/fair. Signed and inscribed by the author on the dedication page, "To Dan Mitchel, who I hear appreciates our Western heritage. All my best wishes. Pearl Baker 8/7/73. This is a gift from the Lee Underwoods." Laid in at front are a signed, typed letter from the author to the inscriptee and a camping flier for the Green River area. A very good copy with bending at the spine tips being the only discernible flaw - clean, tight and unmarked other than the author's signature. The dustjacket is not so good - fair with ruffling, chips and short tears along the edges - much scuffing to the front panel. 224 pp., some black and white photos. In spite of the wear to the jacket - a really unique collector's item, and a solid history of the bandits and robbers that called Baker's property home and hideout in the 1800s.
