Original contemporary blue wrappers (spine slightly rubbed), entirely uncut and unopened (reliure d'attente à la barbe d'originale.). ¶ Rare, not in Lindeboom, Bibliographia. Boerhaaviana. "The Viennese professor Stoll used Borhaave's Aphorisms on febrile diseases for his lectures. He adapted Boerhaave's text to newer views and insights"(Lindeboom). The first edition of this Mahon translation was published in 1801, the last edition in 1837. (Cette oeuvre est inspirée des "Aphorismes" de Boerhaave. D'après le "Dictionnaire de Dezeimeris", Corvisart aurait également traduit ce texte. Trad. de : "Aphorismi de cognoscendis et curandis febribus").-- First 60 pages have a light clear waterstain in the upper inner marging, but a fine copy in its pure state.

Uncut. ¶ Third edition of Boerhaave’s ‘iatromechanical credo’. Boerhaave's early disputations and orations are rarely offered for sale today, the first editions of these are almost unobtainable at the antiquarian bookmarket. Lindeboom, 21. "With this oration, which could also perhaps be considered as an honour bestowed by the Senate on the future profesor, he expressed his gratitude to the Govenors. Contemporary full marbled calf, spine with raised bands and in compartments gilt decorated with floral design; contemporary marbled end-papers; speckled edges (corners very slightly bumped and worn; hinges show some light traces of use, but a solid and attractive binding). With a few woodcut figures in the text. ¶ Lindeboom 315. First published at Leiden in 1917, this is the first edition printed in France but without Boerhaave's consent (all Cavelier Boerhaave imprints are pirate editions). "One of Boerhaave's pupils published an adaptation of his "Libellus de materie medica", greatly amplified from the lectures of his master. Recent 3/4 maroon morocco, spine with 5 raised bands, gilt lettered on black marocco label, marbled boards; new end-papers. With an engraved portrait of Boerhaave by James Hulett. ¶ The first English biography in bookform of Boerhaave in the very rare second edition, of which only a few complete copies are known. "Upon this republication, there was no occasion to alter more, than the first paragraph of the preface in relation to the period of 1743, when this piece was first published, which the reader is desired to excuse upon this intimation" (p. [4] at beginning). The fine engraved portrait has the inscription "J.G.M.D. ad viv. delin.", is ascribed by Lindeboom to Boerhaave's pupil Jacobus Goddard (Cf.
