The authors are an agricultural genetics professor and admirer and Mr. Aberhart's daughter, Ola, who are surprisingly open about the life of Aberhart and the nuances of his government, describing for example, the purchase of the newspaper The Albertan by the newly elected government 'for propaganda purposes.' The book contains a picture section, forward by Ernest Manning, Mr. Aberhart's successor, and seven appendices, including a play, The Branding Irons of the Antichrist, written jointly with Manning. New York: Dial, 1968 I can't remember when I first became aware of Joan Baez, but it must have been one of those wonderful 60's or 70's times shared with good friends, good music and peace movement involvement. This is a first printing of her first memoir, written in 1968 and dedicated to young war resistors in prison. The pages are a bit toned and the front board is not pristine, but it is signed and in very good condition in an even better unclipped dust jacket with $3.95 cover price. See attached scans.

Ginsberg was a major figure in the U.S. post war Beat generation movement. Essays cover protest marches, nuclear weapons, reviews of a wide range of other writers and the roots of California Bhuddism. No marks, writing or wear, like new.

New York: Creative Age Press, 1943 1943 reprint, 3rd printing of the 1942 biographical piece by Carl Reinhard Raswan pen name for Carl Reinhard Schmidt, a kind of Lawrence of Arabia person, who lived among the Bedouin, wore their regalia and was one of the world's great enthusiasts for their horses. In later life, he worked on an ambitious description of the lineage of every arabian horse in the world. This book describes his first introduction to the middle east, and is illustrated with black and white photographs of beautiful horses, camels and Ruala. (Note that he cites Xenophon 's works on riding see Sparkle Books offering by Szetehlo). Still very clean and sturdy book which describes three back-to-the-landers in Alaska, man, woman and child and how they fare with each other and with the land. Very sensitive and thoughtful book.

This is an autobiography of the author and at the same time, provides historical details of the Lakota people, The Illustrations by Martin Red Bear provide pictorial motifs for major events or a `winter count.` Book is inscribed to Nancy.`` It has light creases on either side of the spine some wear to front lower edge, and very slight corner rubs. No writing or marks aside from the inscription. Appears to have been read once carefully or possibly not at all.

Richard Wagamese Describes Ojibway Traditions And Knowledge And His Own Life Experiences In Order To Fulfil His Role As Father To His Estranged Son. This Was A Timely Book Ten Years Later In That Subsequent Observations Have Come To The Conclusion That In The Modern Age The Absentee Father Had Been A Disturbing First Nations Tradition And With That Acknowledgement, The Recognition Of A New Generation Of Young Fathers Who Hope To Do Better.

There is some light general wear to slipcase exterior and it is possible that the book spine and matching slipcase ends have faded slightly. On the back board is a small white spot (undyed thread in the cloth?) which appears to be a production flaw and there is very slight wear to boards in general. Binding and corners intact. A special copy of a special and very Australian book.

London: Weidenfeld & Nicholson, 1999 This is a revised version of the Pandora Press 1991 edition with a new forward by the author . Both book and DJ are as new. This is a fascinating book, extremely frank and rich in detail, with a focus on the relationship between Gertrude Stein and Alice B.Toklas, who were together as a couple from almost the day they met. They knew everyone and at a very interesting time, so the book is full of anecdotes about, for example, Picasso seeing Braque and Derain for the last time when he drove them to the Gare d'Avignon as they had been drafted to fight in World War I. Or again: "T.S. Eliot went to tea in 1924. He sat clasping his umbrella by the handle. He asked Gertrude why she so frequently used the split infinitive."
