saying he has received "the Memorial [to] the Queen of Mr Roades and other Inhabitants of Clonmell on the want in the Province of Upper Canada of the Means of Religious Instruction", explaining that "he has no immediate relation with the Town of Clonmell" nor "acquaintance with any of them", and therefore could not answer in the House of Lords "any observations made... upon their Memorial", similarly if he were to approach the Queen at Court, "The Duke earnestly recommends that they should entrust... the Memorial herewith returned, to some Noble Member of the House who has the Advantage of being acquainted with them", he has deleted this last suggestion (nearly a page) and replaced it with "some Gentleman... or some Member who can advise the Queen as to an answer", 3 sides 8vo., London, 13th March torn but carefully mended with old transparent tape without loss

cross written at the head of Wasse's Autograph Letter Signed (venturing to beg "from your Grace as our respected Chancellor an order for the House of Lords... to hear the debate upon the new Bishopric of Manchester... on Thursday next the 17th Inst.", 3 sides 8vo., St. Alban's Hall, Oxford, n.d.), the Duke writes "FM the D of W Co[mplime]nts House of Lords ... And FM the D of W knows nothing of Mr Gervas Wasse !", with in the Duke's hand "done" and the date, 14th June no year but faint trace of gum on blank fourth side In fact the debate on the 2nd Reading to create the new Bishopric, by the Committee of the whole House, was transferred to the 22nd June (see the Times of the following day).
