A unique presentation copy of the first edition, first printing of Florinda Donner's mesmerizing sequel to Carlos Castaneda's brilliant and uncategorizable series of novels about his experiences with Don Juan, the Yaqui Indian sorcerer, a literary sequence itself primally original and defiant of definition, dealing at once with magic, anthropology, spiritualism, drugs, philosophy, and whatever the term might be for what one does when one goes beyond zen in the course of self (and… Read More

A look - in 1907 - by historical muralist Egbert Norman Clark at the transformation the human psyche was encountering during the first few years after the run of the nineteenth century. A familiar sounding passage echos from his introductory paragraph: "The most advanced thinkers and students of sociology of the day all agree that the human race is now passing through a transitional period in its development, and that, as a social fabric, we are rapidly approaching a crisis." Kenya, Mukamata Region: uncredited, 2018. No Binding. New. New. See image and description. Kenyan Hand-Woven Grass Saucer Trivet, Mukamama Region. 10" Diameter. Teal, buff and cream colors in the case of this piece are dyed by the Kenyan artists who require 2 or 3 days of manual labor for a piece such as this. In this process, natural sisal fibers are dyed, then woven over a core of forest grass. Historically, such "saucer trivets" were used by the Kenyans themselves to protect a sensitive surface from the heat of medium size hot cookware. Here, though one could do that, such an artwork is better suited as a wall-hanging, shelf display, or a jewelry holder. Don't submerge this artwork, nor wash with it water; a damp cloth is all that should be used, if cleaning becomes necessary. Try to find another one of these... Ships in a sturdy box, of course. LUns

No place: Norm Sharp, 1940. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Fine. Folio - over 12 - 15" tall. Sharp, Norm. (no place): Norm Sharp, 1940. Spelling, "Chilpangcingo" for Chilpancingo is as presented, but that is a spelling which, though rare, has been used. Five small original watercolor illustrations by the author/artist, Norm Sharp, of this apparently unique piece grace various pages. See scans for some of these.Folio, black leather boards with gilt cover imprinting around comb-bound contents, untrimmed woven paper, unpaginated but [2] + 24 + [2}, though the 24 pages are printed only on the recto, making 12 pages (leaves). Presentation inscription by Sharp, with one of the little watercolor illustrations, on the feep, dated Christmas, 1940. An amazing item, hard to categorize with certainty. Possibly a one-off, this is either an imaginative short story occurring in dust of countryside Mexico, or, as presented...a true story; a supernatural one, at least as perceived by the author. It has a… Read More
