Although Sir Henry Maximilian Beerbohm (1872-1956) wrote essays and novels, he is best remembered for his witty caricatures of popular politicians and personalities of the day. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of his fifth book of drawings, the First American Edition. Bright green cloth binding, with one of Max's drawings reproduced and filled with gilt. Forty-eight halftone drawings are tipped onto heavy, stiff brown paper stock; the last two are line drawings on white paper. Some light staining to the front endpapers; corners are bumped, but not badly.
