Hardcover. 12mo - 18.5 x 12.5 cm.; 238 pp. Maroon cloth over boards with gilt lettering on the spine and the front board. Known to be first published in 1923 though this particular edition states on the copyright page that it was first published in 1928 in Canada and this is the tenth printing. There is no publisher stated per se other than the title page saying that it is "Privately Printed by Robert MacLehose and Company Limited, the University Press, Glasgow. 1959". The back panel of the jacket states "order from the author. Rev. B. J. Murdoch, Bartibog Station, N.B., Canada". Black and white photographic frontis of the Reverend. Rev. Murdoch was a chaplain with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in WWI. With regards condition, the book shows very little wear though the front free end paper has been removed. The dust jacket has moderate wear to the spine tips, the fold between the spine and the front panel is torn half way up from the tail end and the spine is tad darkened or sunned. .

Howe served for over 25 years in federal politics and brought Canada into and onto the world stage in the post war period of the 1950's. Illustrated with eight pages of black and white photographs. Minor shelf wear on boards, previous owner's inscription on front free endpaper, otherwise, a clean, sturdy copy. Perhaps Howe is most remembered for his quick reply to a question in the House of Commons about his financial 'estimates' with regards post war reconstruction: "What's a million?". He never meant that remark as a question nor was it taken as one. .

Signed by the author on the title page. The clear mylar sheets are scuffed a tad and show some yellowing with age. Otherwise very clean with a sound binding. .
