Bombay: University of Bombay, 1957. 1st edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. VG+ in Good+ dustwrapper. 8vo, viii+238pp, red pebbled boards stamped in gold. Penciled ownership signature of anthropologist David G. Mandelbaum (dated Delhi 1959) to front free endpaper (no other markings beyond original Indian bookseller's store stamp). A scarce work of Hindu sociology. Clean copy with a little wear to boards; the unclipped fragile dustwrapper has some chipping to extremities.

Good+. 8vo, [viii]+156pp, (plus 4pp of publisher's ads), red boards stamped in black and gold. Ink ownership signature of anthropologist David G. Mandelbaum (dated June 1946) to front free endpaper (as well as the signatures of two other owners, one from 1925). A scarce work of Indian sociology. Pencil notations and underlining to some pages, hinges beginning to crack, spine a bit frayed at extremities and darkened.
