London: Robt. Riviere & Son, 1899. Gift edition. Color initials; bound, presumably by Riviere, in full green morocco with gilt decoration and small red inlays; top edge gilt; aside from minor outer joint rubbing, an excellent copy of an attractive little book.

Philadelphia: McKay, 1900. Bookplate; small name stamp on the front free endpaper; bound in 3/4 morocco for Lauriat’s, Boston. With raised bands; gilt rules; top edge gilt; some rubbing; a very good copy.

London: John Murray, 1842. “A New Edition, Revised.” An exceptionally fine example of color printing; bound (probably in the late 19th or early 20th century) in full red morocco; decorated in gilt; all edges gilt; minor rubbing at the extremities; very good plus.

London: George Bell & Sons, 1874. [With] The Eighteenth and Nineteenth Century, Wordsworth to Tennyson (published 1877). These two volumes, evidently produced as gift books, are uniformly bound with decorated morocco spines (a little faded and worn) and thick beveled boards of tree calf that is highly polished to mimic wood. The front board of each is decorated with a gilt border surrounding the title; all edges gilt. Excellent condition.

Cambridge, England: Archdeacon/ Printer to the University, 1777. An excellent copy bound in (what appears to be 19th century) full red straight-grain morocco; covers gilt lined; gilt titling and decoration of the spine; all edges gilt; marbled endpapers. A very attractive example, even charming.

Boston: Houghton, Mifflin, n.d. [c.1915]. Bound in full dark blue morocco; spine in compartments; gilt rules; marbled endpapers; silk marker; all edges gilt. Title page a little wrinkled, else about fine. No binder is credited, although it is gilt-stamped inside the back cover as “Bound for the Old Corner Book Store.”

London: Macmillan, 1923. Illustrated by Hugh Thomson. Bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe in light brown full morocco; raised bands; decorations in gilt and dark brown; all edges gilt; decorative floral pattern endpapers; fine in a slipcase with matching paper.

London: Kegan Paul, Trench, 1889. Small 8vo.; bound by Sangorski and Sutcliffe in full brownish-red morocco; all edges gilt; boards decorated in blind cross hatching with gilt lettering and rules; spine elaborately decorated in gilt with raised bands. Small name label inside the front cover; very slight wear; excellent.

Guildford (England): Curtis, 1902. One of 60 numbered copies; a little foxed; about fine. Bound in full green morocco by Riviere; top edge gilt; simple gilt decoration

London: Rivingtons, 1903. Printed by Constable in red and black; initial letters and designs by Housman; folio; some scattered foxing; trivial edge rubbing; spine very slightly faded. Bound in full brown morocco; all edges gilt; signed “19 L.G.W. 06 [Lucy G. Wrightson]”. An exceptional binding with a complex geometric patterned cross on the front board, surrounded by small square designs, repeated in the spine compartments, separated by raised bands. Titled in one compartment, “The English Liturgy” and with the date “1903” at the foot of the spine. The rear board features the same design as the front, but with just a gilt border, lacking the small gilt squares. The center of the doublures reveals the plain japan vellum endpapers, and the morocco border repeats the small squares used on the spine and front cover.

London: Printed by A. J. Valpy, 1830-34. Fifty-two volumes; small octavo; approximately 6” x 4”. Uniformly bound in three-quarter maroon leather and marbled paper-covered boards; gilt spine lettering and decoration; raised bands; each volume number is enclosed in a gilt circle in the center of the spine. The final volume has been re-backed and there is some minor wear at the extremities of a few volumes; bookplates inside each volume; a handsome, appropriately bound set of a work seldom found complete. These English translations of Greek and Latin classics were published by Valpy in monthly installments over a four year period.

Lyon: Imprimerie Typographique des Deux-Collines, 1919. First Edition (we find no earlier edition) of this erotic, but relatively tastefully illustrated piece. Bound with both the front and back wrappers in an unusual binding, stamped on the verso of an endpaper, “Vtesse G. De Mentque.” Bound in white polished calf with a woman in a long dress and bonnet outlined on the front cover in metal wire; titled on the spine; all edges gilt; deluxe endpapers; and most modern, with a stiff clear plastic jacket and slipcase. Bookplate; the binding is a bit soiled and rubbed, but very good. The plastic jacket and slipcase are somewhat darkened and scratched, and the slipcase is cracked and lacks one end. Although this binding is undated, it appears to be an example of a twenties artist striving to be on the leading edge of modern.

London: Chapman and Hall, 1862. First Edition. Bound by Root in full black morocco; boards decorated in gilt; raised bands and gilt-decorated spine; all edges gilt; library bookplate and blind stamps, else fine. Extra-illustrated with 43 plates, mostly portraits of her contemporaries.

Paris: Henri Jonquieres, 1922. First Edition. Bound in full inlaid morocco by Max Fonseque. Three different colors and gilt lines are used to form the letter "M" on each cover. Minor rubbing; near fine in a matching slipcase.

All edges gilt; marbled endpapers; the front and back boards are uniformly decorated with three ornate gilt-stamped borders; the spines are decorated with compartments separated by raised bands with gilt-stamped decorations; the set’s title is on a green morocco label on each volume and the contents and number of individual volumes are noted below in another compartment, stamped in gilt on the red morocco. Insignificant wear; a fine set.
